Kendall make a nice range of surgical stockings

rainingcatsanddog · 21/05/2018 16:31

People would assume that you were naming her after Kendall Jenner and expecting her to turn out to be a tall willowy model-type like her namesake.

KarinVogel · 21/05/2018 16:34

I used to work with a Kendall. She was nice and the name suited her- it was just her name and I dont think anyone thought anything of it.

Sessy19 · 21/05/2018 16:37

I think it’s a really pretty name actually.

I wouldn’t automatically associate it with Jenner/Kardashian, and suspect the only people who would are the people interested in watching that sort of trash tv-and what do their opinions matter to you.

I also see the mint cake connotation, but kids called Victoria aren’t automatically associated with the sponge cake...so...!!!

I’d say it’s a lot nicer than following along with all the Evies, Graces, Phoebes, Maisies out there (which are all horgeous names, but very not-original!)

Yogagirl123 · 21/05/2018 16:39

I like it!

JennyOnAPlate · 21/05/2018 16:44

Dds teacher is mr Kendall. It's not a first name.

stopbeingadramallama · 22/05/2018 22:56

No. No. No.

DramaAlpaca · 22/05/2018 22:59

No.

Kendal is a town & Kendall is a surname.

LoveInTokyo · 22/05/2018 23:30

Kartrashian.

(Also an ugly name even without that negative association.)

AsAProfessionalFekko · 22/05/2018 23:33

I was at school with a Kendal (female, 1980s).

angryburd · 22/05/2018 23:35

I went to school with a Kendal back in the 90s but she was a bit of a cow so no. Grin

RedDwarves · 23/05/2018 03:46

Jenner (or Kardashian as people have called her on this thread).

Or the girl from Dance Moms.

Basically, it's just very American which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean it has a sense of cheapness or datedness in the UK/elsewhere.

isthisspring · 23/05/2018 12:30

If you are in America this would be a normal name. If you are in the U.K. she may be teased about mint cake for her childhood.

manicinsomniac · 23/05/2018 14:26

I think it's a really nice name. American sounding but don't see why that's a problem.

I lived in Kendal for years and wouldn't associate it with that.

I didn't know there was a Kardashian called Kendall.

I would connect it with the Kendall from dance moms but so what - she's a nice kid and it's a common name in the US.

NameChangedForThisQ · 23/05/2018 16:30

Everyone says Kendal mint cake. I'm born and bred in UK and have never heard of it...?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/05/2018 16:33

You are missing out! It's lovely - like peppermint cream in a bar and sometimes covered in chocolate. It's popular with hikers / walkers.

SecretlyChartreuse · 23/05/2018 16:39

www.mintcake.co.uk

It’s basically boiled sugar in a bar, optionally covered in a layer of chocolate. Associated with hill walking and/or in the Lake District.

Allthebestnamesareused · 23/05/2018 17:01

Dance Moms!

JJ2014 · 23/05/2018 17:33

No and no again. It’s trailer park trashy name.

BackforGood · 23/05/2018 22:36

Shock Where have you been ?? You've missed out. Is essential "emergency rations" for any walking, climbing, cycling , outdoor activity.
17caterpillars1mouse · 25/05/2018 11:24

Its very American mean girl to me. Also if said quickly can sound like Ken doll

SuitedandBooted · 25/05/2018 13:42

Jenner or cake. Either way it will be judged, and not in a good way.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 25/05/2018 13:45

I like it op

GottaGetThisDone · 25/05/2018 14:32

I like it.
Have heard of `Kendal mint cake but didn't think of it when i saw Kendall, it was only due to posters posting it that i thought about it, in short I saw the name and didn't see any connotations with it until pointed out

WeaselsRising · 25/05/2018 14:36

I have several Kendalls in my family tree from the 1800s, all of them male.
