Diego?

It's just popped into my head and I love it! Think it goes really well with other DS name, Milo. Only problem is DH has an african last name and Diego is spanish so he says I'll look 'confused'. Thoughts?

you will then have a tweenie and Dora's sidekick, sorry but that's the first thing that came to mind.

Frillyfarmer · 14/05/2018 19:30

Diego is a great name for your dog or a pet snake.

sonlypuppyfat · 14/05/2018 19:30

No sorry it's awful

Aprilmightbemynewname · 14/05/2018 19:31

Or a sabre tooth tiger!!

AmazingPostVoices · 14/05/2018 19:31

It’s a great name if you have Spanish or Hispanic heritage, otherwise I personally wouldn’t.

cupcakesandglitter · 14/05/2018 19:32

I actually really like it! And I do think it works with Milo too - I think Milo and Diego both paired with an African surname work as well as each other...

TheHobbitMum · 14/05/2018 19:32

Only if you have Dora too!

IVflytrap · 14/05/2018 19:41

It's OK, but I think people will assume you have Spanish heritage. If you do, great, if not, I might rethink just because of that.

How about the Cornish name Jago? Pronounced Jay-go.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/05/2018 19:42

Crikey, no.

Cosmoa · 14/05/2018 19:43

Love it!

PeonyTruffle · 14/05/2018 19:50

Dora’s pal. Sorry.
Grin

Diego?
DramaAlpaca · 14/05/2018 19:51

I don't like it at all, but it does go with Milo.

ReggaetonLente · 14/05/2018 19:52

Isn’t it the Spanish equivalent of James? Do you like that?

Unless you have Spanish or Hispanic heritage, I wouldn’t go for Diego.

Sophronia · 14/05/2018 19:58

I like Diego

Abetes · 14/05/2018 20:03

No please don’t

Glitterspy · 14/05/2018 20:07

Dieeego (go Diego go)

Sorry but doesn't sound right to me and both my kids have offbeat names so I'm not conservative in this regard.

If you like -o names:

Jago
Juno
Mungo
Leo
Django
Marco

To be honest a few of those also sound more like pet names to me.

babyinthacorner · 14/05/2018 20:12

When I saw it i thought YES! But the. After reading your OP, I think no - sorry. It would be too much if no heritage. My DH & I really loved Dimitri but as a white couple (one half Irish with the skintone to prove it!) we felt we just couldn't get away with it...

buttercup54321 · 14/05/2018 20:31

really don't like it

🎶Go Diego, go Diego , go 🎶

TatianaLarina · 14/05/2018 23:48

No, awful.

Much nicer -o names - Orlando, Sholto, Cosmo, Jago, Ivo, Hugo, Ludo, Thibaux

TatianaLarina · 14/05/2018 23:49

Thibault ^^

Buntysoven · 14/05/2018 23:51

Just said Diego out loud and OH grunted in his sleep and muttered "that bastard Maradonna" 😂😂😂

Joeybee · 15/05/2018 01:07

Diego is a fantastic name, and you're right, it goes well with your other childs name.
My first though is that unless you're of Spanish descent then it is an odd name to go for. I LOVE the name Luca and Leonardo, but as a white British woman, I'd feel pretentious picking those names when I have no links to those cultures.
I don't think it matters that baby will have an African surname though, I don't think that makes it like you're confused. There are lots of people with mixed heritage names.
I suppose it depends on how you feel . It is a great name - Easy to say and spell, grows well with a child and it sounds really cool and trendy.

sleepymouse · 15/05/2018 02:50

Makes me think of Dora the Explorer sorry...would maybe use for a pet dog or cat?

Fucketynamechanged · 15/05/2018 03:08

Nope can't get past Dora in my head

It's like inflicting a child with Elsa these days

They will never get away from the association

Even worse when you have a tweenie already in the mix. Although I adore Milo and do know someone who was happy to name their kids Milo, Jake and Bella. Yes, really.
