Thoughts/opinions/associations for the boys’ name Bodhi?? Thanks!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No, @RavenWings I’m really glad of the responses. I’m digesting the cultural connotations. I just thought ‘nice sounding name’.

I don’t think it is appropriate for a name for a baby at all.

AyeWhySwim · 11/05/2018 19:57

That’s quite a strong response @greendale17!
From personal taste responses ‘not keen’/‘makes me think of a hippy/surfer’/‘Buddhist name’ to not appropriate for a baby at all! Blush

My 3yo nephew is called Bodhi, and we call him Bo. I love it OP.

I don't think you're going to get a very positive reaction to it on MN though.

MyBreadIsEggy · 11/05/2018 21:45

MY DH is Thai, and Bodhi was on our list for DS.
I love it!

thetriangleisarealinstrument · 11/05/2018 21:47

My friends toddler son is called Bodhi. Think its a beautiful name.
She is a Buddhist though and called him that because of the story.

HostaToFortune · 11/05/2018 21:48

There is a child on a CBeebies program called Bhodi. DH and I take the piss. DS (4) unwittingly calls him Bogey.

TroysMammy · 11/05/2018 21:54

Although spelt differently, whenever I hear the name Bodie I think of James Herriott's border terrier.

buttercup54321 · 11/05/2018 21:59

he will be teased BOGEY,

Sparrowlegs248 · 11/05/2018 21:59

I like it.. definitely associate with Point break but that's really not a bad thing. Are you a surfey type of family?

sonnyboo · 11/05/2018 22:00

Why should Bodhi be called bogey any more than say Ellie called Smellie or William Willy?

Sophronia · 11/05/2018 22:00

It makes me think of Body.

RedDwarves · 11/05/2018 22:01

It's an "in" name in Australia. Typically used by hipster/beach culture parents. I am not a fan. It has real class/culture connotations here.

AmazingPostVoices · 11/05/2018 22:02

I don’t have a particular problem with the name per se but the Patrick Swayze character in Point Break was horrible so I’m not sure why it’s a positive association for anyone.

welshmist · 11/05/2018 22:03

Bodhi is a very popular name for dogs I know two, you may need to be careful in the park when calling out the name grin]

HappyLollipop · 11/05/2018 22:14

I have a friend with a son called bodhi, I wasn't keen on it at first but it grew on me, but she's got quite a out there naming style for her kids anyway. It's definitely not to everybody's taste especially on mumsnet but if you love it go for it.

chezmk1988 · 11/05/2018 22:22

Quite like it

Joeybee · 12/05/2018 03:32

Love this name. It makes me think of a hipster, surfer, boho type. I think Bodhi goes well on a baby and a child and a man.
Only negative for me is that it's becoming quite trendy, and trendy names tend to become dated as they lose popularity.

AltheaorDonna · 12/05/2018 04:15

The only Bodhi I know is a staffy.

Whyarealltheusernamestaken · 12/05/2018 04:19

Sorry not a good name, make me laugh too much to imagine a baby with it

ThirdNameChange · 12/05/2018 04:29

I follow someone on Instagram who's 6 month old has this name.

She has a Scottish accent and it sounds like 'Body' to me Grin

LemonysSnicket · 12/05/2018 04:34

I know a dog called Bodhi. I quite like it though.

Mollie85 · 12/05/2018 19:07

Did Megan Fox name her kid this? Or did I dream that?

Never seen Point Break ... should I? Grin
