Please could I have your comments on the baby girl names below? As with our last DC, we are struggling to make a decision and I don't want this to drag on and on... we have an unusual surname too which doesn't help! In no particular order:

Clara (DH not keen)
Thea (DH not keen, I'm unsure of correct pronunciation but love it anyway)
Leonora (feel like it's too unusual and will get misspelt)
Adriana (love it but does it sound a bit harsh or maybe even pretentious?)
Mia (feels a bit weak)
Erin (love this but DS is Ryan so don't know if they sound too similar)
Ava (maybe too popular)
Ella (maybe too popular)

Erin and Mia are the nicest but both are popular. Leonora and Adriana are too long. Don't like Clara and Thea. Ava and Ella are too popular.

I love Ava 😍 but DH has decided it is too popular. So we have gone with Niamh.

Other than Ava I really like Erin on your list 😊

SquidgyMcPidgy · 11/05/2018 11:11

DH has said he doesnt like Leonora 😫😫😫 he said he can only think of jackynora or something like that like a pp has said. I’ll still keep it on the list though and see if he changes his mind.
From the rest of the list he only likes Adriana and Erin which is similar to most opinions on here I think.

Adriana is gorgeous; it's the perfect balance of uncommon/pretty/sophisticated imo. Love it. Ella is nice, however it is very popular. My niece is one of 3 Ellas in her class of 30, so take that as you will. Not a fan of Ava, Mia, Clara, Thea or Erin - just don't like them.

Leonora is nice. However, I hate nn Nora... it's so granny-ish. Much prefer nn Leo. Think it would be very bold/refreshing and can imagine it really suiting a little girl. In fact, I prefer Leo to Leonora. However, I can imagine this is not to everyone's taste.

My granddaughter is Ava and I had no idea it was popular! Out of those I must say I like Clara the best.

Littlemum2be86 · 11/05/2018 14:50

Adriana is lovely and I don’t think it sounds pretentious at all! I also really like Erin.

Belindabauer · 11/05/2018 19:47

I like Clara best.

buttercup54321 · 13/05/2018 00:16

Leonora is the prettiest

ABitOTT · 13/05/2018 01:00

If we all will your DH to like the name Leonora would that help? Adriana is also adorable; as is Leonie, Leona, Eliana & Naomi.

Erin is also gorgeous & you could get away with Ryan & Erin. Personally wouldn't do that, as I'd worry that if I had a 3rd child, I would need to pick another similar sounding name. Baby naming is not easy!

Momadream · 13/05/2018 01:12

Erin is lovely and not too similar to Ryan I believe. If you love it, you can use it.
Or you could use Irini or Eirini. Same name pronounced ee-REE-nee, of Greek origin and meaning Peace if you like the sound. That will make it more distinct from her brother’s name
Adriana is OK, but I know a few so I tend to like Ariana someone else suggested, don’t know why

Evangelinee · 13/05/2018 01:12

You have some of my list on there!
I love Thea, Leonora, Mia, Erin.

sadiekate · 13/05/2018 01:16

Ryan and Erin is fine, not similar at all in my opinion! Leonora is a great name. I've never come across a Leonora. No idea why it would sound like Jackanory!!
Sadie is not my real name; my real name is a very common one of my generation and I would have loved something a bit more unusual. It's so not fun sharing your name with a quarter of the girls in your class!
