Heath or Aidan?

Hi, We have 6 month old boy/girl twins. Our little girl is called Nadia and we're all quite happy with that. Our small boy is named Heath and I just haven't settled with it very well. I asked my husband if he would consider changing it and he's open to the suggestion. Aidan cropped up as an alternative, which we liked before anyway, then I pointed out that it's Nadia backwards and everyone seems happy to change it. Question is, do we stick with Heath, which I do like (a few people mistake it for Keith tho!) or make the switch to Aidan. Reservations on Aidan are ?too popular or ?the link with Nadia just too cheesy! So....Nadia and Heath...or Nadia and Aidan? Thanks all.

Nadia and Aidan

sonnyboo · 08/05/2018 10:30

Nadia and Heath

sonnyboo · 08/05/2018 10:31

Aidan and Nadia is too matchy spelling wise.

Sophronia · 08/05/2018 10:32

Aidan. I like the link between the names.

Mannix · 08/05/2018 10:33

I like Aidan much better than Heath, but I do find the link between the names a little weird!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/05/2018 10:34

I'd say Aidan as Heath is dreadful, sorry. Thats Just my humble opinion, though.
However have you noticed Nadia and Aidan are anagrams of each other if that bothers you. I'd go with Heath.

GingerMcGrey · 08/05/2018 10:35

I'd go with Heath. The only Aidans I know are nightmares!

blairsey · 08/05/2018 11:09

Aidan is much nicer than Heath. I wouldn't care too much about the anagram thing, but that's just me. I'm not too big a fan of Aidan either to be honest though. Same as pp, all the Aidans I have known are nightmares.

blairsey · 08/05/2018 11:10

Love the name Nadia by the way! Though I may be a little biased ;)

SoupDragon · 08/05/2018 11:14

all the Aidans I have known are nightmares.

This always makes me laugh. A name doesn’t create the child’s personality.

Anyway, mine grew out of his nightmare stage is has been an unproblematic teen :o So, if you want easy teenage years...

I don’t like Heath but Aidan and Nadia is a bit odd. Although they do sound completely different so I wonder if it matters really.

chezmk1988 · 08/05/2018 11:15

Prefer aidan but now you've pointed out it's Nadia spelt backwards I've changed my mind as it's too cutesy. Stick with heath

heymrsb · 08/05/2018 12:11

I think if you've not settled very well it's a good idea to consider a change...if Heath isn't growing on him (or you) especially.

I do like Aidan - if you're worried about the reverse, why not look at Aiden as the spelling? It's a common variation in Scotland I've seen and takes this away...

SunshineAfterRain · 08/05/2018 12:13

Nadia and aidan. I love the name link considering they are twins.

SunshineAfterRain · 08/05/2018 12:15

And yes I have an Aiden and we are in Scotland. The en is quite popular here

Ellasshitholekitchenpjpiigp · 08/05/2018 12:19

As the girl of boy/girl twins I think the link between the names is great - would have loved that myself!!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/05/2018 13:43

Heath.

AnyaMoondial · 08/05/2018 13:49

I think Heath is a fabulous name, I much prefer it to Aidan.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 08/05/2018 13:51

Aidan is wishy washy imo. Love Heath!!

sonnyboo · 08/05/2018 14:32

Heath is much nicer and more elegant.

IVflytrap · 08/05/2018 19:22

I really wouldn't have a Nadia and an Aidan, especially as names for twins. My own name has a "link" to my (non-twin) brother's name and people think they're so clever when they pick up on it and point it out, as if I'm not aware. Matchy sibling names are awkward, embarrassing and cutesy. The kids at school will notice that Nadia and Aidan are the same backwards at some point, and they will make a big deal out of it. I honestly would either stick to Heath, or else find another name that you prefer.

letallthechildrenboogie · 09/05/2018 10:35

Many thanks everyone. Plenty to think about! Could still be talking about this for a while yet....

I think Heath is by far the nicer name. The only positive of Aidan is the anagram aspect with Nadia, which is so cute, btw. Otherwise I find it to be overused. Wouldn’t it be weird to change your sons name when he’s already 6 months, though?

letallthechildrenboogie · 11/05/2018 06:53

You can change the name any time in the first year, so wouldn't be a problem if we decide to go that way.

But at 6 months your ds will know his name and it could be confusing for him!

SoupDragon · 11/05/2018 07:06

It won’t be that confusing. He won’t remember it at all after a short while and this is his name for the rest of his life so it has to be right.
