Really like it, very classic. The only thing is that there are loads of small Amelia’s/Amelie’s about so you run the risk if her being one of 3 in a class by the time she starts school. Not that’s necessarily a bad thing, just mentioning in case it matters to you.

Rosieposie18 · 29/04/2018 13:56

Thanks for your comment, popularity isn’t that much of an issue for me :)

Yes, it works well.

pipilangstrumpf · 29/04/2018 14:08

There are SO many Amelie/ Emily / Amelia/ Emilias out there already. I personally find the name a llitle dull and overused. But that's just my opinion and it may not bother you.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 29/04/2018 14:13

I think it's lovely. Amelie was on my list for dd but dh worried it would be misheard as Emily all the time.
Amelie Charlotte is a lovely combination.
I have onelu ever met one Amelie (quite a few Amelias) so obviously not overly popular where I live.

Rosieposie18 · 29/04/2018 15:08

Thanks ladies :)

Amelie Charlotte sounds lovely, sounds so elegant and pretty. Would you be using the English or French pronunciation? (A-muh-lee or A-meh-lee)

Rosieposie18 · 29/04/2018 15:20

Definitely ah Meh Lee

Which would take me on to my next question, is it hard to say ?

It’s popularity should mean that most people know how to pronounce it, a friend has a little Amelie and as far as I’m aware it’s never been mispronounced.

daisypond · 29/04/2018 18:50

It's OK. I think Amelia Charlotte sounds better, though. I don't think Amelie is at all classic, though, as someone suggested.

MikeUniformMike · 29/04/2018 19:07

Amelie became popular after the film. Emily and Amelia are classic and nicer.

daisypond · 29/04/2018 19:09

Agree completely with Mike.

MikeUniformMike · 29/04/2018 19:24

Thanks daisypond. I would use Emily Charlotte. It's beautiful and classic, but Emily is very popular if that's an issue for you.
I think of Amelie as Ammerly.

LittleBlueBirdie · 29/04/2018 19:25

I think it’s lovely op

Dozer · 29/04/2018 19:26

The names don’t go together IMO

Rosieposie18 · 29/04/2018 20:26

Thanks everyone, but of a mixed bag!

Emily Charlotte sounds better to me.

RavenWings · 29/04/2018 23:04

Amelie would be fine, there's so many of them now I think the vast majority of people know how to say it. I think it's too popular myself but as that doesn't bother you crack on. Amelie Charlotte is a nice combination.

RedDwarves · 30/04/2018 00:27

Vastly prefer Amelia Charlotte, which is gorgeous.

I’m not a fan of Amelie, primarily due to the butchered English pronunciation which makes it sound like Emily with an A.

bridgetreilly · 30/04/2018 09:18

I admit, I do find Amelie slightly tricky to say. I'm not sure exactly why. I prefer Amelia. Amelia Charlotte is a lovely name.

chezmk1988 · 30/04/2018 11:00

Yes it definitely works.

fearfultrill · 30/04/2018 11:17

It does work, but I find the name Amelie a bit awkward and hard to say as if it should be Emily or Amelia but isn't. Hard to explain Blush
