Hi my husband and I are having trouble coming up with a boy name. We were wanting something somewhat unique and he likes strong names. We both like the name Hawke our last name is Moskow. But now I'm having doubts, because I'm worried about having to explain his name all the time. We also like Dylan. Thoughts??

Dylan is really popular.

What about Rudy?

kimlo · 28/04/2018 14:24

or Geordie (normally nickname from George).
or Denny.

MikeUniformMike · 28/04/2018 14:24

Hawk without the e is better. Eagle, Falcon or Peregrine are possible alternatives, or Heron perhaps.
Dylan isn't unique.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 28/04/2018 14:26

Hawke Moskow sounds like the lead from an 80's action film. I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing.

Dylan is lovely but seems very safe in comparison.

I read this as you were going to call your baby boy troyble
I was about to say i am not too keen but what about Troy instead . .Grin

Me too. I am not keen on Hawke at all. I just can;'imagine and adult male being called that in the workplace.

haverhill · 28/04/2018 14:51

I thought your chosen name was Troyble too!
Grin
Hawke Moskow is problematic as both names have strong meanings of something else iyswim.
Dylan is lovely but not at all unusual, DS has two friends called it.

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/04/2018 14:53

Dylan, go with Dylan.

SoftSheen · 28/04/2018 14:56

Dylan is fine, Hawke not great, IMO. But definitely not Troyble!

Dizzywizz · 28/04/2018 14:58

Jago

YoucancallmeVal · 28/04/2018 15:21

Hawke moskow sounds like a helicopter.
Dylan is a great name.

Luckingfovely · 28/04/2018 15:32

Dylan is much better with your surname.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/04/2018 16:15

Chester
Rex
Otto

felicitythemangyfox · 28/04/2018 16:23

Hawke Moskow is too much imo, sorry.

Rudy as suggested by pp is good - Rudy Moskow has a great ring to it.

Or Alexander nn Xander?

SomeKnobend · 28/04/2018 16:31

Another relieved for the kid you're not calling him Troyble!
Hawk doesn't need an E. That takes yoonique to more yeeuuuneikh levels!
I agree with PP that Hawk Moskow would be a cool 80s action movie hero. People would probably snigger at such a fancy actiony name if he was bag packing at Tesco or telesales marketing, or any desk job really. He'd have to be a police detective or something at least.

Troyble is the sort of name a teacher sees on a class list and immediately thinks...

Here comes...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/04/2018 18:55

Dylan is a great name !

Ginger1982 · 28/04/2018 19:03

I'm sorry but Hawke is a terrible name! Please don't call your child this!

GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo · 28/04/2018 19:06

I know a Griffin

ParadiseLaundry · 28/04/2018 19:07

Another one here who thought Troyble was a name suggestion. I absolutely love the name Hawke, and it sounds great with your surname.

MikeUniformMike · 28/04/2018 20:11

Griffin is great

Looselytranslated · 28/04/2018 20:16

Dylan does go perfectly with your surname. Asher is nice and would also fit, as would Edward. I do like Hawke (are you fans of The Path?) but not sure it's a bit much with the surname. However, we don't get called by our full names all that often do we?

EmmaC78 · 28/04/2018 20:26

I do all the time at work when I am in meetings and either need to introduce myself or be introduced. I just can't see introducing yourself as Hawke (even minus the surname) in a workplace as being anything but uncomfortable for an adult.

Freyanna · 28/04/2018 20:29

Dylan
