I know it's mega popular but how many do you actually know?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Dogsrbarking · 27/04/2018 11:19

Too many. But to be fair I know almost as many Alexander's and Toby and they are statistically no where near as popular.

Cosmoa · 27/04/2018 11:19

Plenty! It's been the most popular name for a few years. Been in top ten for even longer.

Fridasfridgefreezer · 27/04/2018 11:20

One. He’s 4 and lives in Herts. I live in trendy E. London and no one goes near the top ten!

pipilangstrumpf · 27/04/2018 11:23

Way too many!!

Oysterbabe · 27/04/2018 11:39

Personally only a couple but I hear it shouted across the play park every day.

FlaviaAlbia · 27/04/2018 11:41

None, except one I went to school with.

twilightcafe · 27/04/2018 11:41

Three

overmydeadbody · 27/04/2018 11:52

Loads

chezmk1988 · 27/04/2018 12:20

I know 2

Sophronia · 27/04/2018 16:23

A lot!

ICantCopeAnymore · 27/04/2018 16:23

Two in my current class.

StarlaMack · 27/04/2018 20:51

Loads

MrsHathaway · 27/04/2018 20:55

3 in DC2's class, another 5 or 6 in the school of just over 200. Another similar number at toddler groups etc.

Loads.

But my year at school was about 10% Sarah and 15% Rachel with another cluster of Katies and Charlottes so I don't actually think it's that big a deal. They're all fine names after all.

RoundaboutSnail · 27/04/2018 21:36

Two, of primary school age.

LastNightsMakeUp · 27/04/2018 21:37

SE I actually don't know any and from what I remember can't remember any at baby/toddler groups

Chocolatecake12 · 28/04/2018 13:20

I have one! He’s 16. There’s only one other in his year group of 180. I think that year the top boys name was Jack.
My other ds has no Oliver’s in his year 6.
I had one in my class at school 40 years ago and I once knew a dr called Oliver. Both really lovely people. I just loved the name and am pleased I have my own Oliver!
Names are so hard to choose and personal choice means that what you like there will be lots of people who don’t like it!

Carouselfish · 28/04/2018 15:59

Four of primary school age.
Don't understand the appeal. Orphan, olives, liver. And Olly always sounds a bit village idiot or Tim Nice But Dim. Or someone a bit posh trying to act younger than they really are.

CruCru · 28/04/2018 16:09

I don’t know any child Olivers. This was such a popular name that people seem to have stopped using it round here (a bit like Oscar, Isabella etc).

pipilangstrumpf · 28/04/2018 16:18

I don't get the appeal either, especially Olly?!

BikeRunSki · 28/04/2018 17:21

5 who are 8-10
2 who are 5-6
A few adults

I know an awful lot more Thomases in the 8-10 age group.

blinkineckmum · 29/04/2018 08:44

Lots. But I always think that names are popular for a reason. It's a nice name. I have a very popular name and it doesn't bother me.

RedDwarves · 29/04/2018 08:47

Not many at all. I think the youngest Oliver I know would be at least 18 now, but statistically it's very popular where I live. It's a bit like Olivia - statistically popular, but I don't know any young ones.

I love Oliver. Great name.
