Trying to convince OH

Hi!

Would love some opinions on this...due Oct and although we aren’t finding out I already have a favourite girls name which is Posy.

Friends and OH hate it as our surname is Pudney....so she would be called Posy Pudney. Thoughts??

No idea if it is to be a boy! We can’t agree on anything at this stage Hmm

Josephine Pudney is very nice (Posy).
How about Rose Pudney (Rosie).

GinIsIn · 26/04/2018 13:47

I think Posy is sweet but it’s absolutely dreadful with your last name. Sorry!!

banannabreadforme · 26/04/2018 13:53

Please no. One day your beautiful baby will be an adult who won't thank you. My 92 yr old nan is called Daisy and she hates it. She is unforgiving to her parents for giving it her (I like it)

Posy is OK but rather twee.

With your surname? No way.

Shen0102 · 26/04/2018 14:12

Posy sounds terrible when combined with your sunarme. Maybe use it as a middle name if you like it that much

lindyhopy · 26/04/2018 14:32

Don't do it. As others have said it's very cute as a little girl name but awful as an adult. Josephine is lovely.

ArialAnna · 26/04/2018 14:38

Interested to hear that people try to avoid same starting letters for first and surname. Does this apply in all cases or just for certain letters? A good friend of mine was BB before marriage and I thought it was a great name. My favourite girls name starts with a C as does my surname, but would people here avoid naming CC?

Post Pudney does sound a bit twee though

IAmMatty · 26/04/2018 14:40

Posy is very drippy. You'd be just as well calling her Ickle Wickly Cutie Pants.

And with your surname....I'm going to be kind and say it's the pregnancy hormones. We all did it. Grin

MollyHuaCha · 26/04/2018 14:53

It's no to Posy Pudney from me. Back to the name book OP. Wink

Ratbagratty · 26/04/2018 14:59

No can imagine the nickname P P from the kids, poor thing...

statetrooperstacey · 26/04/2018 15:16

Arial think about it PP =peepee
CC is fine. Didn't hurt Christopher Columbus

ILikeMyChickenFried · 26/04/2018 15:22

My daughter is a PP. She has a middle initial too, I quite like the alliteration.

TheKimJongUnofFeminism · 26/04/2018 15:26

You said you liked Tabitha-why not go with that?

LoveInTokyo · 26/04/2018 15:32

Posy Pudney sounds like a really annoying cartoon child on a CBeebies programme.

Like Dora the Explorer’s even more annoying friend.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 26/04/2018 15:52

Let’s just put it down to pregnancy hormones shall we?

SilverySurfer · 26/04/2018 16:07

Please don't do that to your child - if you like it so much I suggest changing your name by deed poll Hmm

theredjellybean · 26/04/2018 16:15

I have the name mentioned and it was shortened to Posy as a child. Love it...

HoldingTheLineWinston · 26/04/2018 16:22

I think Posy is a lovely name, might be better with a middle name to break up the P's, but I still would use it.

nmiles27 · 26/04/2018 20:39

@sugarpiehoneyeye thank you I really like Rosie too!

dinosaurfeet · 26/04/2018 20:42

Sorry OP, Posy Pudney sounds like a character from the Beano or something. It's too twee with the alliteration. Hope you find another lovely name.

DairyisClosed · 26/04/2018 20:43

Posy us fine for a toddler but t would sound ridiculous when she was 40. I sat go for Josepgine

crisscrosscranky · 26/04/2018 20:43

My daughter is Rosanna but Rosy (with a y for short).

If you want to go twee please use Tuppence- I love Tuppence but DH would have left me with the baby!

VioletCharlotte · 26/04/2018 21:01

I quite like the name Posy, but I think it needs a proper, 'grown up' surname to work. For example, I think Posy Hamilton-Jones works. But not Posy Pudney I'm afraid...

How about Rosie instead?

IWouldBeSuperb · 28/04/2018 21:49

I know a Rosanna who is Rosy or Posy to friends and family, so that would give you a couple of options?

Just in case it is the hormones... Grin
