Elsie as a nn for Elspeth. I used to prefer Essie but now i think I'm falling for Elsie.

What are your thoughts on Elsie? Do you know any?

I know a little Elsie. It suits her, she's very sweet Smile

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/04/2018 20:07

Very pretty and sweet.

RedDwarves · 17/04/2018 20:07

I like Elsie, but don’t like Elspeth.

I know one Elsie. She’d be in her mid-20s now and her name isn’t short for anything.

Justwaitingforaline · 17/04/2018 20:08

Elsie is lovely. It works as a NN but I’d use it as a stand alone name Smile

LoveInTokyo · 17/04/2018 20:30

I like Elspeth.

Elsie is the obvious nickname but it is a bit too “Victorian scullery maid” for my tastes

Itchytights · 17/04/2018 20:31

I like it. Sweet name

Boredboredboredboredbored · 17/04/2018 20:33

Ugly name don't like it at all

hilbil21 · 17/04/2018 20:33

My gran was called Elsie, Mum was called Elspeth. Both short for Elizabeth. My mum hated her name her whole life. If I have a girl, I plan to call her Elsie

villainousbroodmare · 17/04/2018 20:36

Victorian scullery maid as PP said.

ChiragGoopta · 17/04/2018 21:29

Love it but getting quite popular

ChiragGoopta · 17/04/2018 21:30

(I know of three under the age of 5)

TroubledLichen · 17/04/2018 21:32

Don’t like it at all, I agree that it’s a bit Victorian scullery maid and also really cutesy. It’s very popular though so clearly my opinion is in the minority!

MrBloomsLeftVeg · 17/04/2018 21:34

Completely ruined for me by the lyrics in Cabaret
'I used to have this girlfriend known as Elsie
With whom I shared four sordid rooms in Chelsea
She wasn't what you'd call a blushing flower
As a matter of fact she rented by the hour…'

chezmk1988 · 17/04/2018 22:18

Adore Elsie. Elspeth is nice too although I sometimes think does it sound like you've got a lisp when it's said.

RiceBaby · 17/04/2018 22:32

It's very cutsie. Can't imagine a CEO called "Elsie".

Lifeaback · 17/04/2018 22:34

I love elspeth and think Elsie is a very sweet nickname, but not too cutesy. Two very pretty names

RedDwarves · 18/04/2018 00:21

It's very cutsie. Can't imagine a CEO called "Elsie“

Hmm CEOs have all sorts of names. What a daft comment.

AnyaMoondial · 18/04/2018 01:56

Oh I love Elspeth, I think it is really beautiful. Elsie is cute as nn.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 18/04/2018 02:03

All 3 are very nice! I also prefer Elsie to Essie but they’re both fine.

Can't imagine a CEO called "Elsie"

It’s a totally normal name, but did you miss the part where her actual name is Elspeth? Is that more acceptable for a CEO? 🙄

PinkCalluna · 18/04/2018 02:28

I know a few Elspeths. I’m not sure you really need a nickname, it’s quite a short name as it is.

Of the 3 adult Elspeths I know nicknames are as follows:

Elspie
Ellie
Elle

However they only use them really for very close friends and family everyone else gives them their full name.

The Elspie really hates Elsie and corrects anyone who calls her it.

MadMaryBoddington · 18/04/2018 04:33

I know an Elspeth who is known as Elsie. She’s 6. I like it.

bridgetreilly · 18/04/2018 17:27

Love it. Love Elspeth, love Elsie even more. I know a not-quite-2 Elsie and it's adorable. I also used to have a great aunt Elsie and she was amazing. Go for it!

bunnyrabbit93 · 12/05/2018 04:47

My DD2 is called Elsie so I love it but I'm biased. I think it's a pretty name
