Considering calling DS Julian. What are your thoughts?

Not keen personally.

TatianaLarina · 15/04/2018 22:45

Like.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/04/2018 15:15

I really like it but every one I know I'm my parents generation things its awful and wet

missyB1 · 16/04/2018 15:21

I love it and would shorten it to Jules, but I’m a big fan of that guy on Escape to the country Grin

heateallthebuns · 16/04/2018 15:22

I don't know. I can't imagine a child called that. It just seems like an adults name Grin

heateallthebuns · 16/04/2018 15:22

Yeah and it is a bit wet,

DairyisClosed · 16/04/2018 15:24

In that case I say go for it. I think it is lovely and ages well. I also don't see anything wrong with being a little wet sounding.

PonderLand · 16/04/2018 15:31

I like it, i wanted to all ds Julian but OH said no.

TERFousBreakdown · 16/04/2018 15:33

Adore it!

Granted, I'm biased: one of my dearest childhood friends as well as possibly the loveliest work colleague I've ever had were both Julians. Stellar people IME. Grin

TatianaLarina · 16/04/2018 16:05

What’s with all the wet bollocks?

Names that sound middle class or posh are labelled wet, but it transpires that the kind of names that those posters think sound manly just sound like fuckwits.

Ubercornsdiscoball · 16/04/2018 16:06

I like it and would choose it for another by if it didn’t clash with our other names!

dozydaisy23 · 16/04/2018 18:35

@TatianaLarina like all 'manly' boys should be called Bruce or Max? Haha!

If it helps, my DH (his dad) is 6ft 4 and built like a brick 'out' house so it's unlikely he'll be a weedy little thing.

I'm thinking Jules myself now but a bit worried that it's the more feminine version over Jools?

OP posts:
tigerrun · 16/04/2018 18:40

I would have assumed Jools (like Jools Oliver) is feminine and Jules (like Jules Verne or Jules in Pulp Fiction) is the masculine derivative isn't it? I like Jules - I'm mid forties and associate the name Julian along with all the Mark, Mikes, Tony, Gary etc of the 70's - but names come round again and it could work (I don't think we'll say any more Garys though surely!?).

Beamur · 16/04/2018 18:43

Don't like, but do know one Jules who is the loveliest man.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 16/04/2018 18:45

Dated and all the ones i knew were odd anyway.

kaytee87 · 16/04/2018 20:00

Don't like it.

MadMaryBoddington · 16/04/2018 23:19

I like it. I wouldn’t shorten it at all.
