Nicest name between Hazel and Camille?

I promise this will be the last one lol. I've officially decided it's between these two names. Middle name is Eve. So it's between Hazel Eve or Camille Eve.

Hazel Eve.

popcorneveryminute · 11/04/2018 08:10

Camille is beautiful. Hazel is awful (IMO)

NotSureThisIsWhatIWant · 11/04/2018 08:14

Camille

Habanero · 11/04/2018 08:17

Camille is nice but Camille Eve is too close to “evil” cam-il-Eve evil cam.

Habanero · 11/04/2018 08:18

And I guess with Hazel you get evil haze if you swap the syllables around.

Fridasfridgefreezer · 11/04/2018 08:20

Hazel is having a moment isn’t it? I know of a few Hazels under 4.

Camille.

grasspigeons · 11/04/2018 08:23

Camille Eve sounds nice to me

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 11/04/2018 08:24

I think Hazel sounds mega dated.

I like Camille though.

Buxbaum · 11/04/2018 08:26

Camille is a French boys’ name.

Would you pronounce ka-MILL or ka-MEEL?

starkid · 11/04/2018 10:23

Hazel!

catsofa · 11/04/2018 10:26

My son would have been Hazel if he'd been a girl, so that's my vote. Camille = camel.

pipilangstrumpf · 11/04/2018 10:31

I would pronounce Camille as Kah-mee, the French way. In English I prefer Camilla.

pipilangstrumpf · 11/04/2018 10:32

Would you pronounce ka-MILL or ka-MEEL?

Neither way in French

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 11/04/2018 10:39

bux Camille is used as a girl’s name in France too.

Buxbaum · 11/04/2018 10:51

this True - I’m reading a book on the French Revolution at the moment so my immediate association with Camille is Desmoulins.

pipilang assuming OP is in the UK the French pronunciation would most likely anglicise to ka-meel, just as Chloë and Zoë have been semi-anglicised (English speakers tend to pronounce the diaeresis rather than form a diphthong, but the sound is slightly different to native French).

gwen25 · 11/04/2018 13:24

Camille!

HermioneGrace · 11/04/2018 13:27

Camille

Murine · 11/04/2018 14:13

Hazel

YourVagesty · 11/04/2018 14:55

Camille

FizzyGreenWater · 11/04/2018 15:16

I loathe Hazel - the sound, the shape of it - so frumpy and hard.

So Camille, though I don't love it. Two VERY different names OP!

cansu · 11/04/2018 15:20

Eve doesn't go with either of them though as a middle name.
I think I prefer Camille but I can't say that I like it.

pilates · 11/04/2018 16:35

Camille is pretty, Hazel is frumpy

Punksparkle · 11/04/2018 16:38

Camille is my favourite name. What about Louise as a second name?

vitaminC · 11/04/2018 16:43

I live in France and it seems like 50% of 18-25 year old females are called Camille around here (the other 50% are Manon!), so it just sounds boring to me these days.

Hazel is nicer, but doesn't go with Eve.

I think I actually prefer Eve as the first name. Eve Hazel? Eve Camille? Both sound better than the other way round.

DarkBlueEyes · 11/04/2018 17:00

Hazel is/was my mother's name and is my daughter's middle name so to be fair I'm biased. I also like Camille, but I really feel brighter of them go with Eve. If you say them out loud you get Haze ill leave. And Camel leave.

Back to the drawing board. How about Camille Hazel? Or Hazel Camille? Or a different middle name hat starts with a consonant like Hazel Grace. Or even Hazel Grace Eve.
