What do you think of Pheonix for a boy?

I love it, we very nearly went with it as a middle name for ds2

RedDwarves · 07/04/2018 20:04

To me, Phoenix will always be River Phoenix, and as such I think it’s a difficult name to live up to. You just can’t be anything less than cool if your name is Phoenix or it’s too ironic.

IVflytrap · 07/04/2018 20:12

I think a lot of people have trouble with the spelling, so that would be something that would put me off. Also it does look a little self-consciously trendy.

I like it as a middle name though, especially if it has meaning for you. I think you can pull off more unusual names as middle names than you can as a first name.

Todayissunny · 07/04/2018 20:23

I love it. Really love it.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 07/04/2018 20:24

Hugh Grant's character in Paddington 2 was called Phoenix wasn't he? A Hugh Grant association is never a good one.

bellanotte22 · 07/04/2018 20:25

I like it.

There's a building firm near us that's called Pheonix Builders complete with picture of the mythical bird...

chezmk1988 · 07/04/2018 22:17

Not good

VanGoghsLeftEar · 07/04/2018 22:21

Harry Potter. Sorry.

I do like some names in Harry Potter though. Current favourites are Ginevra, Luna and Minerva.

RavenWings · 07/04/2018 22:31

Hate it. It's too hippy wannabe/tacky 90s sounding.

Mammysin · 07/04/2018 22:33

What about Ari (stotle)?

Ohyesiam · 07/04/2018 22:36

With that spelling?

What about griffin?

TellOutMySoul · 07/04/2018 22:38

Makes me think of Scary Spice and Jimmy Gulzar! He didn't last long did he?

As for Brooklyn, he was named after the place of conception according to folklore. Classy.

Askance · 07/04/2018 22:39

Micheal is the Irish form of Michael (with a fada on the a) , so not a misspelling...

Caulk · 07/04/2018 22:41

I know a few, including a Feenicks. It’s not a name I would choose though.

windchimesabotage · 07/04/2018 22:41

I know 3 children called Phoenix. All born in the last couple of years. I think its actually a really popular name at the moment. Im not too keen on it myself but I dont think its too 'out there'. Dont think anyone would think it was weird seeing as there are loads of kids called that about at the moment.

BrutusMcDogface · 07/04/2018 22:42

Feenicks !!??

tabbycatbythesea · 08/04/2018 06:48

Love it x

BirthdayKake · 08/04/2018 17:42

Middle name of one of my daughters

She always gets called "Phee" Blush

RosaBaby2 · 08/04/2018 22:41

I really like the name Phoenix but I think you need to have a certain surname to go with it, not too complicated!
