Any good nicknames for Lydia?

I love the name Lydia, but also like a name to have the option of a shortening or nick name. Are there any sensible nicknames for Lydia? I don’t particularly fancy future dd being known as Lid! Grin

Nicknames come naturally they don’t need to be predetermined

I know a little Lydia whose nn is Liddy which I think it cute on a child

OutPinked · 20/08/2018 09:12

The only Lydia I know is Lydi.

babyshark1 · 20/08/2018 15:24

LeeMiller · 20/08/2018 15:24

The Lydia I know is Diddy. She's the youngest and it suits her perfectly!

m0therofdragons · 20/08/2018 15:47

I find it really odd that people would look at a dc and think "chlamydia". Clearly no decent human would do that Hmm
My lydia is lydie or Lyds but most call her her full name.

Quizeerascal · 20/08/2018 16:35

I know a friend of a friend called Lydia, she used to be almost exclusively known as Lyddy but now she's in her late 20s I think she's known more as Lydia. I've known others who get Lyds as well, all lovely nicknames imo and Lydia is a great name. Dee would work too as a nickname I think.

pouraglasshalffull · 20/08/2018 16:37

The girls I know called Lydia are all lid, she will get called that by her friends regardless

fieryginger · 20/08/2018 16:38

It's going to be Lyd. It just is.

TigerlilyMoon · 20/08/2018 16:42

I have a friend called Lydia and now will think of Chlamydia every time I say her name - thanks guys!! 😩😂

pipilangstrumpf · 20/08/2018 17:35

Why would a lovely name like Lydia be changed to Lid?! I'd stick with Lydia, it's easy enough to say.

Glumglowworm · 20/08/2018 19:31

All the Lydia’s I know are Lids or Liddy for short

DioVelazquez · 21/12/2018 00:17

Back to the drawing board why? Why not just call her Lydia and not use a shortening?

My OH's name is Michael and his family all call him Michael because his parents never shortened it. Granted, his colleagues and friends call him Mike, but I doubt his parents care because they don't interact much (if at all) with his colleagues and friends!

jessstan2 · 21/12/2018 02:37

I think Lydia is a gorgeous name, wish I'd been called that.
I expect she'll be called Liddy or Lidz and both are nice. Then of course there's Lidl......

TheTrashMaster · 23/02/2019 22:14

My name is Lydia, and my boyfriend and bff calls me Lyds. Others have called me Lydsters, Olivia (To annoy me) and a couple others

Bezalelle · 23/02/2019 22:20

Wilson.

Sillybilly1234 · 23/02/2019 22:21

Sorry but I just think of the muppet song.

aliceandkids77 · 23/02/2019 22:38

I went to school with two Lydias, both in my class so they went by different nns so we wouldn’t get confused: Lydi and Dia. I think both are darling!

pilates · 23/02/2019 22:50

Lydia is a beautiful name and I certainly don’t think of chlamydia. The one I know is called Lydie.

Hangingtrousers · 25/02/2019 04:26

My Lydia gets Lyddy or Lyds. Both suit her perfectly and I def don't think bin lid or Chlamydia and no one else hads.

Hangingtrousers · 25/02/2019 04:27

Oh and she called herself Diddy when she learned to say her name which was too cute.

DizziLizzy · 25/02/2019 14:37

Erm, this baby must already have a name, seeing as this is a zombie thread... Question is did @graysor go for Lydia? (Lyds which I quite like to be fair Grin)

Flybygal · 02/06/2019 08:45

hi! my name's Lydia and I've never liked it nor met a beautiful Lydia in the USA; I had a male friend tell me that and it made me feel awfully unattractive. I was named after my grandmother. so I refuse to be called lydia...therefore my friends and family call my Lia (Lee-Ah), Lydsy, Lili (Lee-Lee), Lydz, Lydie (French spelling) as i am 1/4 French descendant. hope that helps!
Best regards.
