For a friend. Baby is a girl. She likes Sophia, pronounced 'so-fy-a', but is put off by the obvious pronunciation issue.

I'm missing the obvious pronunciation issue? That's the only way I know that it's pronounced... and I know 3 baby Sophia's

Raines100 · 03/04/2018 16:35

Isolde! Grin

I promise I hadn’t seen Dairy’s post when I suggested Isolde! Great minds.....

@BikeRunSki Sounds the same in my accent/mind 🤷‍♀️ the only hesitation I would have would be its popularity

Raines100 · 03/04/2018 16:56

Thanks will pass those on.

@Lastnightsmakeup
It's either FEE to rhyme with bee or FIGH to rhyme with eye.

@Raines100 oh I see! I've only ever known it to be so-fee-a and know a few.

Calatonia · 03/04/2018 17:06

No, no no: please NOT Tristan and Isolde: that's just too corny for words.

It should really be Brunnhilde but you can't saddle a poor babe with that.

the most fitting name with the other two would be something like

Heloise (or Eloise)
or Eleanor
or Helen
(or Antigone if they're determined to be different)

Most recent baby name of a newborn I was told by proud grandparents: Calypso: why do they do it?

I quite like the So-fye-a pronunciation. It's a shame it's dying out. A name that sounds a bit like it is Sapphire, but I imagine that wouldn't really be up your friend's street, considering their other children's names?

Definitely can't have both Tristan and Isolde! I like Daphne as an option, and Evangeline. A lot of the previous suggestions would work well

Calatonia · 05/04/2018 07:13

@abiirthdaycake : I'm glad someone else can see that Tristan and Isolde in the same family is a bad idea....

I don’t think anyone was seriously suggesting Tristan and Isolde Confused. Or were they?
