Another clue is;

The poet’s surname is also a Welsh first name with an s on the end, but the name I’m thinking of is the poet’s first name.

Wilfred means desires peace and Wilfred Owens writes about war.

There’s a (rubbish) tv show called Wilfred with a man dressed up as a dog.
