Boy names *eye roll*...

So we are expecting our second little boy!

Hubby and I had already agreed on a girls name, always the way! Our first little boy is Henry, so need something that goes. We are a bit more on the traditional side - strong believer in a traditional name then can use a nickname if needed. Our last name is pretty boring, so needs to be a bit of a stronger name.

Some names we have thrown around are: Rupert (hubby's pick, I'm unsure), Theo (Theodore), Angus, and Walter (Walt/Wally, my family's vote). We have some time until bubba is here, I just thought I would see what people's options are on the current short list or if there are any other ideas out there! I feel like I keep seeing the same names over and over again! Confused xx

I really like Walter, I haven't heard of any actually so makes a nice change and it's a strong name, as long as your surname isn't Disney related Wink

Another vote for Alexander, I love that name.

pipilangstrumpf · 19/03/2018 13:58

I really like Angus! Strong and not too common.

BabloHoney · 19/03/2018 14:32

Angus is a great name, I’d pick Angus if I had another boy. Also love Theo. Good luck deciding!

HoratioNightboy · 19/03/2018 14:38

I don't know how anyone can think Angus is a wet name! Shock

It absolutely reeks of strong, rugged outdoor types , usually playing rugby or tossing the caber. I knew one who was a shepherd and looked like he had just stepped off a box of porridge oats. It's the most manly name on your list and I think you should go for it!

pipilangstrumpf · 19/03/2018 14:42

I don't get how ANY name can bet 'wet'..? A person maybe, but a name Confused

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 19/03/2018 14:47

I love Rupert, it's completely gorgeous.

wendywoopywoo222 · 19/03/2018 14:50

Love Walter. If I had a son he would be called this.

Lifeaback · 19/03/2018 15:43

I love Theo but Rupert has grown on me lately!

Flamingoringo · 19/03/2018 15:45

Angus sounds great with Henry.

Also like Theodore.

pipilangstrumpf · 19/03/2018 15:49

Angus and Rupert are lovely!

Theo is a little dull in comparison.

Proudmummy2MA · 19/03/2018 16:00

Love the name Walter!! It was my wonderful grandfather's name though, so I think that's why I like it so much :-) Agree with pp about avoiding the nn wally though!

My next favourite from your list is Rupert, I like the nn Roo! Also love pp suggestion of Jasper :-)

Fluffyblanket17 · 19/03/2018 16:05

Albie, Charlie, Freddie, Max, Reggie

MammieBear · 19/03/2018 16:05

Lovely names OP, especially Walter, you might also like :
Ernest
Wilder

lovelsa · 19/03/2018 16:06

@fluffyblanket17 I love Charlie, but our last name is Brown, so can't bring myself to name a little boy Charlie Brown!

Theo is boring. Walter is great but Wally is awful.

I love Angus and Fergus, I have a Magnus myself which I obviously love too. Sebastian is lovely but would end up Seb. Rupert is terrible but seems popular on here, I just can't imagine a 40 year old called Rupert at all.

SapphireandSteele · 19/03/2018 16:21

Jonathan and Alistair are my favourite names

LoveInTokyo · 19/03/2018 16:30

Henry is a classic so I would go with another classic.

James (much less used these days)
William
David
Joseph
Christopher
Samuel
Jonathan
Felix
Matthew
Robert
Andrew
Thomas
Oscar
Michael

lovelsa · 19/03/2018 17:05

LoveInTokyo, definitely a big advocate for traditional names. I figure they have stood the test of time for a reason!

Love a lot of your suggestions, but as our surname is Brown, William Brown sounds like the most boring person you'd meet! lol And have considered Robert as a middle name (possible Angus Robert...), as I'm not a fan of it's nicknames (Bob/Bobby/Rob/Robby). Oscar was mentioned for DS1, so could be a contender.

And these are all used by DH's family. (His dad is 1 of 8 and they all have kids! They've used up a lot of names! lol)
David
Christopher
Samuel
Matthew

Andrew
Thomas
Michael

That is really inconsiderate of them!

OK, how about:

Daniel
Nathan
Luke
Alexander
Philip
Oliver
Adam
Douglas
Elliott
Victor
Marcus
Rory
Scott
Lawrence
Joel
Gabriel
Anthony
Stephen
Max
Richard
Thomas
Jacob

Appreciate not all of these will be to your taste, just trying to cast the net a bit wider!

I also really like Angus from your list - sounds a bit Scottish (not a bad thing).

Topseyt · 19/03/2018 17:39

Angus or Rupert would be my favourites from that list.

Not keen on Walter. To me it is just very dated, though I know many of these old names are having something of a renaissance now.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/03/2018 19:44

❤️ Angus.
Henry and Angus !

DuggeeHugs · 20/03/2018 13:41

I like Theo and Angus from your list.

Hugo was another name that came to mind.

bridgetreilly · 21/03/2018 13:27

Where's Wally. Definitely not that.

I like Theo and I really like Angus (Gus). Could also consider Fergus.

How about:
Gilbert
Edmund
Hereward
Edgar
Richard
