DD will be born in Scotland.
We have a few name combinations already (that I have asked about before) but I quite like the idea of having a name linking her to her birthplace.
I like Eilidh, but sadly my accent butchers it!
Also really really like the name Alba...

I have an aunt Zena - short for Angusina)

I love Alba so so so much. My husband is Korean, and unfortunately in Korean, alba means 'part time job'. So that got vetoed immediately. He still laughs about me saying 'I want to call our daughter 'part time job'. Wouldn't bother me so much, but they nicked it from German, from 'arbeiten', to work, so it's not even a proper Korean word, it's just something they imported in the 60s/70s.

I like Morven too, and Aibreann (pronounced like avrawn).

I don't think Merida is a Scottish name. I've never heard it used here.

Lorraine is not Scots or Gaelic - it's the name of an old kingdom of the Franks, between France and Germany

Merida is not Scots or Gaelic; it's possibly Spanish

Agatha is international, not specifically Scots or Gaelic

All the Gaelic-speaking people that I've met called Floraidh spell it that way, not 'Floraigh' as suggested above. I'm not saying that spelling doesn't exist; it's just not the normal one

Eilidh is spelled that way, not as suggested above 'Eileadh'

Morna (Muirne) is traditionally Irish Gaelic not Scottish Gaelic; it is sometimes used in Scotland , however

Vaila is a pretty name but - if it matters - it's Norse in origin not Scots or Gaelic.

Perfectly true, Wax . And in the far north of Scotland it's not that unusual a name, either.

I was only commenting because there's so much nonsense on some baby name sites. Strange how they never mention really old Scottish names such as Gruach / Gruoch and Devorgilla, or 18th/19th cent names such as Davidina (my gt grandmother) or Murdina ... Not 'romantic' enough, probably.
