Middle name for Ella that ISN'T Grace, Rose or May?

Dc2 due in 4 weeks and unsure of sex. We really like Ella for a girl but are totally stuck for a middle name.
I don't really like all the names that seem to he used as middle names for everything (grave, may, rose are the ones that spring to mind) however we do want something that flows.
I really like Ella Nicole however Nicole is dh sisters middle name and he doesn't get on with her very well so isn't keen!
Any other suggestions? I don't like things that end in the same 'a' sound which rules out the likes of 'Olivia' etc.
Thanks

Came on to suggest Ella Nadine but I see someone got there first.

I think a consonant-rich name would be best as Ella is rich in vowels.
Ella Georgina,
Ella Claire,
Ella Diane,
Ella Charlotte,
Ella Caroline,
Ella Rachel,
Ella Rosalind,
Ella Ruth,
Ella Samantha,
Ella Jasmine,
Ella Margaret,
Ella Martha,
Ella Violet,
Ella Florence.

I would avoid Louise, Lily etc as it's too many Ls, and names beginning in a vowel will give you the invisible R - Ella Ann would be said Ella ran. Ella Emma would be ridiculous.

I know what you mean by the ‘normal’ middle names.

Ella Victoria sounds nice to me and is what I immediately thought. Strong, different sounding to Ella so it doesn’t just flow together, and classic

I came on to suggest Harriet, but as you are already switched on to the loveliness of Harriet, may I second those who have suggested:
Mabel
Violet
Joy
Celeste

Congratulations!

Ella Catherine

I really like Ella Harriet (and the initials EH), but it's feels like a definite first name and middle name rather than use both everyday. If you are looking for both names for everyday what about Ella-Jayne or Ella-Jo.

Personally, I think Ella works best with a two syllable middle name. I also think that the more classic names are better suited. Something like...

Ella Frances
Ella Beatrice
Ella Nicole (not classic, I know)
Ella Catherine

IbizaLovesSundays · 26/03/2018 23:24

Ella Kate
Ella Laurel
Ella Faith

Obviously a middle name has to have a meaning or why else bother? That’s the tradition. Maybe I am a different generation but middle names mean something. All my kids are named after great grandparents who are no longer with us but my kids carry their name so it ‘means’ something. It’s respect. Each to their own but why bother with a middle name then. Normally it’s the name your baptise or Christian them with. God I feel old.

Some parents choose a middle name that "means" something, some choose one they just like. It's a personal choice and the middle name doesn't "have to" have a meaning.

ItsalmostSummer · 27/03/2018 05:19

I’d choose something different ..
Ella Jewel
Ella Frances
Ella Blue
Ella Ruth
Not Ella Vera Grin

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I think we've got it down to either :

Ella Nicole
Or
Olivia Nicole

Nicole is dh sisters middle name. He wasn't keen but it's actually frown on him and will keep his family happy (if it's a girl!). Which of those 2 do you prefer?

I prefer Olivia because it's less common, I'm a teacher and I have a lot of Ella's

AnyaMoondial · 29/03/2018 12:42

Ha! I know a million Olivias and only one Ella. Personally I prefer Ella, it is short and swishy but still sophisticated.
