OP I think your names are nice but I especially like Ellen and think it is underused.

Kidsandfarmers · 19/03/2018 09:19

Thank you all for your suggestions! Really helpful ❤

We had agreed on Margot for a little girl! We would have done Margaret, then used Margot as nickname. But there are actually TONS of nicknames for Margaret - Maisie, Margot, Daisy, Greta...

...but we are having a boy, always the way!

LoveInTokyo · 19/03/2018 16:24

Are you a fan of The Crown, lovelsa?

I predict that Margaret will make a comeback in the next few years.

lovelsa · 19/03/2018 17:08

@LoveInTokyo - Love the Crown! But I also just love traditional, old, uncommon names! Probably comes from having one myself (Elsa)...well, it was before Frozen came around! lol

My other fav girls names include Agnes and Eleanor...told you - old old names lol Grin But DH would only agree to Margaret because he liked Margot as a nn.

LoveInTokyo · 19/03/2018 17:33

I think Margaret is lovely and could do with being resurrected. And you’re right, so many lovely nickname options. I like Meg and Peggy as well. There would be a nickname to suit any personality.

Eleanor is a gorgeous name as well.

MikeUniformMike · 19/03/2018 22:02

Connie (until my OH said kids would nickname her something else!)
Ada
Eira (Ay-ra)
Nancy
Ellen/ Elin

Connie short for Constance is nice. Not suitable in France.
Ada - not keen. The Lovelace association is good but it makes me think of a programming language or an Aga.
Eira. Lovely if you are Welsh speakers. Otherwise avoid.
Nancy - it's ok.
Ellen - it's ok, a bit boring, maybe. I prefer Helen.
Elin. Again, only if you speak Welsh.

Honey2468 · 19/03/2018 23:09

Mine are
Esme
Alice
Lilly
Matilda
Pandora
Aisha
Amelia
Alecia
All of these have a little meaning to me apart from Alice and I suppose it’s out for most people with the royal baby but I think it’s so beautiful and can see it suiting a woman of any age. Good luck and congratulations!

Littlemum2be86 · 20/03/2018 07:57

My sisters name is Connie and she has never been nicknamed anything other than Con occasionally but generally always Connie. I think it’s a beautiful name and she constantly gets comments on how lovely it is. I’ve never met another and she’s now 27 :)

Kidsandfarmers · 20/03/2018 17:13

Ah to hear she has never been nicknamed is so reassuring! I think its such a lovely name ❤

And yes we are welsh which is why we dont mind the welsh names ☺ also like

Hollie
Molly
Annie
Isabelle

Why is it so hard? 😂

MikeUniformMike · 20/03/2018 18:58

Hollie, Molly and Isabelle are all quite popular.
Annie is lovely. They say it might be a snowy easter so Eira would be apt.
Hollie sounds exactly like holi, and Molly like moli, which might be slightly offputting.

Other suggestions
Carys
Sian
Cerys
Fiona
Ffion
Harper
