I love it and wanted to use it for DD (v nearly did) but didn't in the end as worried it would be considered 'chavvy'/down market/whatever. I also like it spelled Kaija (Finnish form, my mum is Finnish) but no one knew how to pronounce it.

marjolaine That is what worries me with it, not sure why though...

I really like it.

I know all sorts of people with names that are deemed 'chavvy' on Mumsnet. I know one very wealthy, very middle class family who have kids called Riley (gasp!) and Cooper (horror!). And they're doing just fine! I don't get this preoccupation with chavviness and worrying people will think you're chavvy. If snobs/people do decide you're chavvy surely it would be based on more than just a name.

Very true millychantilly and very refreshing to hear. I think perhaps it’s the fear of someone judging the child when they are older and it affecting them somehow maybe career wise, (although not sure how exactly!) rather than me as the parent. Although, I’m sure people in the real world aren’t as preoccupied with names like most of us on these threads are!

Wouldn't be my choice.
