What do you think of it? I've worked in many schools over the years both south and north of the country and only ever come across one Archie!

It's a Scottish name originally and my partner's family are Scottish.

I always loved it after watching the TV programme on Sunday evenings called Monarch of the Glen and there was an Archie in that ♥️

Far too cutesy imo. Twee.

Also every child and its dog is currently called Archie!

I'm going to stick to my guns and go with Archie if it's a boy as it's the only boys name me and OH can agree on and I really like it.

I know 4 Archies, all aged under 5. Not my favourite name but i think it ages better than the milly/tilly type names.

Currently trying to get my OH to love this name instead of just like it!
I LOVE it and definitely my favourite choice so far!
He says Archibald is terrible, and I agree, I wouldn't call him that, just Archie! X

Topseyt · 16/03/2018 00:24

I like Archie.

I would definitely use it as a standalone name in it's own right, not as a short form of Archibald, which I don't like at all.

Blushingm · 16/03/2018 07:15

It's q common here - I know loads of Archie's - from about ages 9 and younger

Mclaren37 · 17/03/2018 02:24

I like Archie a lot! There actually seems to be a lot of love for it on this thread, so I wouldn’t let a few dislikes put you off if you love it. Our boys are Archie and Hamish, like you we have Scottish family. Go for it!

Belindabauer · 17/03/2018 08:36

If you line it then go for it.
It seems every other boy under the age of 16 is called Archie or Alfie where I live.

lovelsa · 19/03/2018 12:25

I LOVE LOVE Archie! A possible contender for our current bump actually!

But I'm a strong believer in a traditional name with a nickname and I'm not sure I can bring myself to name a baby Archibald! lol Confused

lovelsa · 19/03/2018 12:26

** side note, I have also seen it used as a nickname for Archer. x

SpongeCake23 · 19/03/2018 15:29

@lovelsa I certainly think it can be a stand alone name!
