Guessing Game

Thought this would make a fun thread and maybe also provide names for people that are choosing that they wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

Think of a name (your child's or any name really) and provide 3 clues.

Other posters have to guess the name and once someone gets it right, it's their turn!

I'll start:

2 syllables

Very definitely a boys name but there is a feminine version

2 very common abbreviations/nicknames

Agreed, rest in peace Stephen Hawking. An amazing man.

Ok, im hoping this one will be my most cryptic yet:

This young lady stands up and switches a letter with her co NT friend that some describe as catty.

DuggeeHugs · 16/03/2018 13:38

Felicity?

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 14:55

Not Felicity

FintyTin · 16/03/2018 15:05

Ok, that one's making my brain hurt!!

Talitha/Tabitha?

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 15:15

Also just to clarify that there are TWO (very similar) names mentioned in my clue.

Decipher one or both if you can! Grin

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 15:16

Ah, didnt see FintyTin's update, yes, you got it! Talitha and Tabitha!

Ok so this is the deciphering of my clues:

"A young woman stands up..." = Talitha translates into Aramic as "little girl, arise"

"...and switches a letter..." = You change the letter L to a letter B to make Tabitha.

"...with her co NT friend..." = Tabitha and Talitha are both New Testament names.

"..that some describe as catty" = Tabitha is often called a cat's name on Mumsnet. Also Tabby cat.

Back to you @FintyTin Smile

X-posted! Great clues there

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 15:20

Thanks @masktaster

FintyTin · 16/03/2018 15:30

Thank you for an excellent clue, finallychangedmyusername It took me a while to figure out that NT didn't stand for neuro-typical! I got the Bible reference, though.

I shall have to come back to you, as I'm due back at work. Unless anyone else has one ready to go?

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 15:38

I think we should hold out and wait for another of your amazing, brain busting clues @FintyTin!

DuggeeHugs · 16/03/2018 16:11

These are some amazing clues - you're all making my brain stretch Smile

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 18:15

Whilst we're waiting for FintyTin to return to work, shall I chuck out another one? Or anyone else want a turn?

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 18:15

Return from work...

FintyTin · 16/03/2018 18:34

Break time! I've got on:

She's half without compassion and slightly less than honest; but she follows those who uphold the law.
