Baby has been born and we still haven’t chosen which of these two!! Love both. Please help us decide!

Ophelia is a lovely name but it lends too well itself to innuendo.

Hotpinkangel19 · 28/02/2018 14:42

I just had a baby girl, we called her Poppy Rose. Posie is her nn at the moment!

butterflycatcher · 28/02/2018 14:43

Be careful of "I feel ya" with Ophelia

SpiceRack · 28/02/2018 14:43

Posie makes me think of Kylie Jenner, it's what one of her lipsticks is called and what everyone thought her baby was called at first

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/02/2018 15:30

Congraulations. I'd go with Posie but only because I dislike Ophelia (it seems ott). Posie is too cutesy from my tastes but i do prefer it to Ophelia

FartnissEverbeans · 28/02/2018 15:33

I like Posy a lot.

I like Ophelia as well but I've met three little Ophelias in as many years! Also her story is sad.

villainousbroodmare · 28/02/2018 15:37

Posie is woeful. Ophelia had severe MH issues and died tragically but at least there is something adult about the name.

harrietm87 · 28/02/2018 17:57

I'd choose Ophelia of those too.

Just can't take posie seriously. If you must, call her Josephine with posie as a nickname.

Bimbler · 28/02/2018 18:58

Goodness they're two very different names. Your surname isn't Bottome or Balls is it?

RavenWings · 28/02/2018 19:00

Ophelia by a mile, Posie is very twee and cutesy. Congratulations!

Ophelia instantly makes me think of this. Rather miserable connotations, I think. Wasn't Posy in Ballet Shoes? I think that sounds pretty, but I don't know why it goes with Josephine as PPs have suggested.

Bimbler · 28/02/2018 19:04

I don't think I could go for either name tbh. I'd feel like an idiot yelling 'POSIE' and 'OPHELIA' across a park. Is there a third option?

user1483387154 · 28/02/2018 19:08

Ophelia definitely

Enidblyton1 · 28/02/2018 19:09

Not a huge fan of either, but Ophelia would get my vote.

NextIndia · 28/02/2018 19:11

I have a Posy. I LOVE her name. Congratulations on your DD Thanks

llangennith · 28/02/2018 19:19

Ophelia

Arapaima · 28/02/2018 19:21

I prefer Posy but I’d spell it with a y.

MrsGrindah · 28/02/2018 19:25

Yes Posy was in Ballat Shoes and I love the name

FreeNiki · 28/02/2018 19:26

Ophelia

Gorgeous name

MrsGrindah · 28/02/2018 19:26

Also why are people saying call her Josephine with the nickname Posy? If you are going to call her Posy why not ..um.. name her Posy?

BuzzKillington · 28/02/2018 19:27

Posy is just too sickly.

Ophelia is better.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/02/2018 19:31

Posy (as in a posy of flowers) is a lovely name. Posie is nonsense, as are Poppie and Hollie. Don't use a perfectly good name and then add an -ie ending 'to make it different '. The poor child will spend their life correcting people or, worse, having to tolerate the constant misspelling of their name.

FreeNiki · 28/02/2018 19:35

@LadyMonicaBaddingham A friend of mine just had a Lillie.

I thought wtf.

Already on facebook constant corrections of people spelling it Lily.

Wtf is Lillie?

stellarfox · 28/02/2018 19:39

Posy is lovely but I would have it as a nickname for something else. Ophelia is nice but a bit eccentric!

Bimbler · 28/02/2018 19:47

It seems silly to go for Lillie when everyone will assume Lily, but then Lillie Langtry is possibly the most famous Lily/Lillie there has been and she got the royal seal of approval Wink
