Thoughts? I don’t usually like the ‘nickname first name’ trend but I really like Richie but not particularly Richard! What’s the general consensus DH and I not agreeing on much else!

I think it's really cute

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/02/2018 17:58

My nephew is Richie (Richard on his BC)
As his dad wanted his full nAme on. He's named after his dad/grandad/great grandad
I call him Richard sometimes. However to everyone else he's always Richie.
He really suits it you know when someone literally has their name written all over them.

Aw thanks for those reply’s glad to hear it’s a liked name Smile

I like Richie.

I'd put Richard on the BC though.

MeadowHay · 24/02/2018 22:23

I don't really like either. But for no apparent reason, just one of those things. Nothing wrong with either ofc. If you prefer just Richie then go for it, you're not obligated to have the long name as their name.

SwinginFromTheChandelier · 24/02/2018 22:25

Richie rich- just no!

Ricky is better even though I'm still not keen...

pipilangstrumpf · 24/02/2018 22:50

Richy? As in being rich Hmm? No, don't like it

pallisers · 24/02/2018 22:53

personally I would think Richie Rich if I heard Richie but only the first time.

I don't particularly like nicknames as names ending in "ie" or "y" for boys or girls - fine for when they are small, might not always want to introduce yourself by what everyone will presume is a diminutive as an adult.

IVflytrap · 24/02/2018 23:14

Richy? As in being rich Hmm?

Richie is a legitimate nickname for Richard, pipi.

OP, I like it, but personally I would put Richard on the birth certificate, to give him options when he's older, in case he wants a more formal/grown-up sounding name.

nauticant · 24/02/2018 23:16

I'd put Richard on the BC though.

This is the way forward.

Roastchickenbitch · 25/02/2018 08:33

Yes this is what I thought. Think I’d be annoyed at myself as he got older as my other children don’t have the nickname name thing going on. Many thanks for the honest reply’s Cake
