What are people's thoughts on Juliet? Smile

I like it but never know whether to pronounce it JOO-lee-et or joo-lee-ET.

glitterbiscuits · 24/02/2018 11:41

I love it. I only knew one who is now about 60.

MrsFantastic · 24/02/2018 11:44

I like it. Julia is also nice.

We considered Juliet for our daughter, but one of my in-laws would have droned on about Romeo if we had. I couldn't face that!

TheWizardofWas · 24/02/2018 11:46

A very pretty name.

mammyoftwo · 24/02/2018 11:47

Love it but husband veto'ed it because of the Romeo connection.

Also there are so many ways of spelling it (which dh found offputting)

MissMoodyMoo · 24/02/2018 11:50

I absolutely loved it! But was put of by someone posting a picture on fb of their baby Julie stillborn and its just traumatised me!

BrainlessDailyMail · 24/02/2018 11:54

I hate it. Some other 'silly' or try-to-hard names = Clementine, Verity, Gemima, Matilda, Portia, Imogen.... I know I'm in a minority. Would not fault anyone who bore these names, of course.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 24/02/2018 11:55

Love Juliet. Not keen on Julie/Julia though.

Wellthen · 24/02/2018 11:56

Love it. Love Jules, Jule, Julia and, at a push, Julie.
The only one I know is a bit of a brat unfortunately.

HelenaJustina · 24/02/2018 11:58

Love it, if a family member hadn’t used it for their baby born a couple of months before I was due, we’d definitely have gone for it

ChocolateCrunch · 24/02/2018 12:36

It's OK, but hate it if shortened to Jules or Jue/Joo.

soundsystem · 24/02/2018 12:38

I love it! Would have been DC2's name if he was a girl.

Theshipsong · 24/02/2018 12:41

I think it would be shortened to Julie which I find a very boring seventies name.

Dolphincrossing · 24/02/2018 12:41

Lovely name Smile Do you want some Shakespeare heroines or do you just like that one? My favourite Shakespeare names are

Miranda
Jessica
Beatrice
Olivia
Rosalind

FeelingIll · 24/02/2018 12:45

We nearly chose this (Juliette) but decided against due to the Romeo connection but its a lovely name.

sycamore54321 · 24/02/2018 12:46

@MissMoodyMoo Your post is one of the crassest and most inappropriate things I have ever read. Did you really need the exclamation points when talking about your friend's beloved baby who died? And do you think the trauma in this situation most properly belongs to you? Or to the parent who suffered such an awful loss?

OP I really like it. I know one person named Juliet but she insists on Julie, which I think is nowhere near as nice.

deptfordgirl · 24/02/2018 13:20

Gorgeous.

PutYourSlippersOn · 24/02/2018 13:30

It's okay. I'm not sure I would want to be a child with this name as it seems quite old-fashioned.

MikeUniformMike · 24/02/2018 14:02

It's ok but it keeps coming up on here.
I don't like Jooles/Jules, is it Jool-yet/Julie-et/Julie-Ette...
Juliette spelling is naff.
I'd say No.

elisa2502 · 24/02/2018 14:09

Love it. I'm a teacher and i've never taught one.

Catinthebath · 24/02/2018 14:12

Very pretty name and uncommon these days.

maddiemookins16mum · 24/02/2018 15:35

Very, very lovely.

Rainbowsandflowers78 · 24/02/2018 15:37

Lovely

LovelyBranches · 24/02/2018 21:03

It was on my list but I have close family with the surname Montague so it put me off a bit, but it’s a beautiful name.

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2018 21:13

It's lovely, as long as it's pronounced with the stress on the first syllable.

To me Juliet is JOO-lee-et, while Juliette is Joo-lee-ETTE.

I really love the first one, not so keen on the other.
