I like it. I associate it with Wonder Woman more than the princess. I’m 23, if that helps

greendale17 · 24/02/2018 14:31

Hate it. Dated, old woman name

CatsForgotPassword · 24/02/2018 14:33

The only Diana I know also goes by “Dee” for a nickname not Di.

PenguinDi · 24/02/2018 14:33

@starbrightnight yeah I do get called Di a lot mostly at work and friends, it doesn't bother me really. What does annoy me is the miss spellings of the name Dianna, Dianah etc

starbrightnight · 24/02/2018 14:42

I get the feeling Diana is a bit of a Marmite name then. Thanks all, very helpful. Smile

I like it a lot - Roman goddess. It's a classic name, and not very common these days.

Annabelle4 · 24/02/2018 17:52

I love it.

Out of interest, I just asked my teen DD if she knows who Princess Diana is/was, and she has no idea (which is quite sad)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 24/02/2018 18:04

A colleague and I were showing children at school pictures of random famous people and asking if they knew who they were... Apparently Lady Diana is the mayor of Chesterfield 😂😂

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/02/2018 18:47

It's a beautiful name. I know a Diana, in her fifties, her nn is Dee.

PhuntSox · 24/02/2018 19:40

Love it!

Coconutspongexo · 25/02/2018 07:54

Dirty Diana - Michael Jackson

cliffdiver · 25/02/2018 07:56

I'm not keen.

Have you thought of Dinah? (Pronounced dye-nah).

WegmansCookies · 25/02/2018 08:02

I'm also a Diana (mid 30s). I've always loved my name, even the nickname Di.

strawberrypenguin · 25/02/2018 08:03

What about Deanna instead?

starbrightnight · 25/02/2018 11:20

Don't like Dinah (Dinah Dinah show us your leg, show us your leg, show us your leg - awful song I remember from somewhere)

Deanna sounds nice (is it American I wonder) but doesn't have the same feeling to me as Diana.

WegmansCookies Glad you like your lovely name, and am reassured you don't mind it shortened to Di. I still have a problem with later being an 'Auntie Di', to me it's like saying 'Auntie, drop dead!'.

I might be overthinking it ...

I have a friend who is a Deanna. She loves her name but constantly gets called DEEna, Dinah, Diane. It’s pronounced like De-Anna.

halcyondays · 25/02/2018 11:47

My dd aged 9 hadn't even heard of Princess Diana until quite recently so
I can't imagine it would be much associated with her for the current generation.

It's a nice name.
