Matilda Evelyn?

We're expecting a little girl and we're certain that we're going with Matilda for a first name - it's a name that means a lot to us for numerous reasons.

We're thinking Evelyn for a middle name but haven't 100% decided yet. I'm just after some more ideas.

Our surname is an object, so we can't use names such as Ruby, Ivy, etc as much as I like them because they'll end up sounding like they're describing the object!

I think Matilda Evelyn is lovely!

MummaGiles · 12/02/2018 18:49

It’s lovely!

BrutusMcDogface · 12/02/2018 18:55

It's lovely! I also like Evelyn Matilda 😉

BrutusMcDogface · 12/02/2018 18:56

I'm not sure if two vowels go together like that, e.g. The first name ending in a vowel and the middle name beginning with one.

JollyGiraffe · 12/02/2018 18:56

Lovely name, but very 2018 Grin

Callamia · 12/02/2018 18:58

It’s a lovely name. Go with it!

ChocolateCrunch · 12/02/2018 19:13

I like it, go for it

PinkAvocado · 12/02/2018 19:15

Love it!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 12/02/2018 19:15

Beautiful name Bear

NotAnotherEmma · 12/02/2018 21:02

They don't flow to me.

JumpingFrogs · 12/02/2018 21:08

It's lovely. If you wanted other potential middle names that aren't the inevitable Rose/May/Grace you could try....
Matilda Maud
Matilda Clare
Matilda Esme
Matilda Ruth
Matilda Nancy
Matilda Lucy
Matilda Abigail
Matilda Beatrice

PandaCat · 12/02/2018 21:09

I like it!

SuperBeagle · 12/02/2018 21:43

I love Matilda, but don't think Evelyn "flows" with it very well. The vowel sounds at the end of Matilda and beginning of Evelyn clash. I'd look at using a middle name beginning with a consonant.

Matilda Blythe
Matilda Catherine
Matilda Florence
Matilda Genevieve
Matilda Grace
Matilda Juliet
Matilda Josephine
Matilda Lillian
Matilda Lucy
Matilda Madeleine
Matilda Ramona
Matilda Seraphina
Matilda Tabitha
Matilda Winifred

MikeUniformMike · 12/02/2018 22:42

I don't think it goes and it will get the invisible r as in Matilda Revelyn.
Matilda Jane is sweet.

I'm not keen on Evelyn because I would say it Eve-lyn but a lot would say it Ever-lyn, and some would say it Evil-in, and I think Eve is much nicer.

pilates · 12/02/2018 22:42

No they don’t flow

fearfultrill · 12/02/2018 22:56

Both lovely names individually but they don't really go IMO.

Matilda Niamh?

Roomba · 12/02/2018 23:02

Love it, Matilda was my first choice girl's name that I never got to use. And Evelyn was my lovely Grandma's name. So it's highly likely I'd have picked this exact combination if I'd had a girl.

Roomba · 12/02/2018 23:03

Oh, my grandma was Evv-lyn btw.

RavenWings · 12/02/2018 23:08

I agree that Matilda and Evelyn aren't a great sounding pair. I'd use something with a consonant and not ending in a.

Matilda Jane
Matilda Merle
Matilda Faith
Matilda Rain
Matilda Hazel
Matilda Naomi
Matilda Roisin
Matilda Laurel
Matilda Jade
Matilda Joy
Matilda Brooke
Matilda Juliet
Matilda Leonie
Matilda Carmen
Matilda Mirabel

MikeUniformMike · 12/02/2018 23:08

The Evvlyn sound is nice.

Frazzled2207 · 12/02/2018 23:13

Nice names but I don't think the vowel sounds flow particularly well. Matilda needs to be followed by a strong consonant sound imo
Matilda Jane
Matilda Catherine
Etc
Depends to some extent how you're pronouncing Evelyn, but either way not great. Just my opinion though, nothing wrong with the names. In fact they sound great other way round!
Evelyn Matilda? Sorted

bridgetreilly · 14/02/2018 02:17

I like Matilda Evelyn. But you could also try:

Matilda Lois
Matilda Joan
Matilda Caroline
Matilda Claire
