I really like it.

theHitcher · 09/02/2018 21:34

I'm not keen on surnames as Christian names, but Blake is ok.

Smoliver · 09/02/2018 21:34

Well, I like Blake for a boy. Other people must like it too because it is in the top 100 boys names.

If you like Blake, go for it Smile

Patal · 09/02/2018 21:37

Blake is a mixed name for me. I know of two Blakes, one a mid 30s male and v posh with a double barrelled surname, and the other a 9yo loud mouthed unruly little boy. I can see both ‘chav’ and ‘sophisticated’ elements to the name

SuperBeagle · 09/02/2018 21:40

I don't like it.

But even if I did, I wouldn't consider it sophisticated.

Corcra · 09/02/2018 21:41

That was the boys name we'd picked. I still love it.

pipilangstrumpf · 09/02/2018 22:36

Reminds me of Quentin Blake, but not Sui like it as a first name

pipilangstrumpf · 09/02/2018 22:37

But not sure (sorry.. predictive text)

NotAnotherEmma · 10/02/2018 10:22

I like the name Blake.

MummySparkle · 10/02/2018 10:24

There's a Blake in DS class at school. He is naughty.

Yidette86 · 10/02/2018 10:27

Not a fan of that name in all honesty.. Just a bit too corny American for me sorry.

scrabbler3 · 10/02/2018 21:24

Reminds me of the character in Madam Secretary (which is a very good thing). I've no idea how it might be perceived over here - it is pretty rare. I understand the "American" comments. I like it.

UsernameInvalid66 · 10/02/2018 21:28

Like another poster I don't usually like surnamey names but this one seems a bit more acceptable somehow. I think by some weird mental association with the word "flake" I picture snow when I hear it.

frozenlake · 10/02/2018 21:37

I know a few, some girls and some boys, they are all Americans.

VerityMay · 10/02/2018 21:40

I like it, it does remind me a bit of Blake Carrington in Dynasty, but that's not a bad association. It is very masculine, but could see it suiting a cute little boy too.

Crazycatladyx5 · 10/02/2018 21:44

My grandson is called Blake. DD chose it as her paternal great grandparents last name is Blakey.
Blake is nearly 4 & a very bright little boy. I'm biased but I do like the name.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 10/02/2018 21:45

I know a Blake.

Blake Seven comes up all the time; bizarrely. It might be old, but for some reason, it won't die. He's not overly old, either - he's 24.

Annabelle4 · 10/02/2018 21:46

I like it.

Yettilegs11 · 10/02/2018 21:53

My ex childminder’s son is called Blake my then 5 year old kept mistaking ly calling him Flake lol.

If you like it and your partner likes it and it goes with your surname go for it. Who cares what people think.

floriad · 11/02/2018 15:20

I don't love it but it certainly isn't awful.

SumAndSubstance · 11/02/2018 15:49

I don't mind it, but I definitely wouldn't describe it as 'sophisticated'.

pilates · 11/02/2018 15:56

Sorry, strongly dislike

Allice · 11/02/2018 15:57

I knew one and he was/is a massive twat.

Zazia · 11/02/2018 16:07

I like it both for a girl and a boy.

Toodlepip14 · 12/02/2018 23:19
