Hi all, first thread I've ever set up so please forgive any errors. Baby is due in the next few week and I've still no clear idea for names. We haven't found out if it's a boy or girl so have twice the name options!

I like unusual names (I.e. only one in class or school) but don't want to be thought completely out there and crazy with it.

What are your thoughts on Indigo (Nn Indi) for either a girl or boy?

It’s ok but I much prefer India.

Definitely don’t like it for a boy.

I've loved it since I was a child, but DP wouldn't go for it Sad

Indigo is a little dated to me. What hippy 90s parents called their child when desperate to be different.

Inigo sounds awful- "In I Go" line will be used to tease them something awful!

I quite like it, its got me thinking about other colour names....
Cyan

Hmmm *I need another baby

I like Indigo for a girl but would definitely go with Inigo for a boy. I would have liked it (Inigo) for either of mine but DH vetoed, didn’t matter as they were girls.

Don’t like

Thanks everyone- I didn't know about the "Indigo Child" thing, so that was an interesting read. I may be wrong but It sounds like this movement is fairly limited. I think I agree it sounds like a name that would be more easily accepted for a girl.
I will keep it on the girls short list and hopefully when the baby turns up something on there suits it! Smile

I wonder if the rise in popularity of Indigo has anything to do with the generation who loved the Hilary McKay books growing up? Certainly my daughters love all the paint colour names.
