Struggling to decide between these three names and only 4 weeks until due date. Which would you choose?

Not Iris, seems to be on trend at the moment, but IMO it's harsh sounding and old-ladyish. Charlotte and Jemima both have a much nicer sound, Jemima being more unusual.

RickOShay · 02/02/2018 14:24

Iris Charlotte

yikesanotherbooboo · 02/02/2018 14:41

All nice names:
Charlotte popular and timeless
Jemima much less popular and timeless
Iris popular and very current
All easy to spell and pronounce , all suitable for adults and children!
Tough choice; Jemima for me !

sidonie1 · 02/02/2018 14:46

Also LOVE 💕 Jemima

deptfordgirl · 02/02/2018 14:47

Jemima

RockinRobinTweets · 02/02/2018 14:49

Charlotte for me. I can't get over Jemima Puddleduck!

KERALA1 · 02/02/2018 14:54

FGS don't tell me Iris is popular Hmm.

Used it 12 years ago and thought I was being super original - damn!

LarkDescending · 03/02/2018 18:19

Jemima Charlotte!

daisypond · 03/02/2018 19:06

Iris. I don't like Jemima - as I said on another thread, it's very much a slave name to me. Charlotte gets muddled up, to me, with all the other "sh" names - I think of Sharon, Chardonnay, Sherri, Chantelle, etc - despite the royal connection.

Sophronia · 03/02/2018 19:15

Jemima but Iris is lovely too

Jemima - a 'slave name'. That's ridiculous. An association taken from a US brand that isn't even sold over here. It's a name from the Bible (daughter of Job) and if Brits have any associations with it, it's usually Jemima Puddleduck, or maybe the little girl in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. Has a lovely sound too.

daisypond · 03/02/2018 19:30

It's not from the US brand that I get the association. I've never heard of a US brand called that. The association comes from the fact that it was a name often used for slaves in those days and that's my first thought if I hear Jemima.. But it's a nice name if you can ignore that association.

CormoranStrike · 03/02/2018 19:35

Charlotte

Pemba · 03/02/2018 19:38

Well I heard that American slave owners often named/renamed their captives with biblical or Roman names, but are we going to reject all those names because of that? The names should have been 'reclaimed' by now I would have thought. Was Jemima particularly common, then?

helpmum2003 · 03/02/2018 19:43

I love them all. If Charlotte is too popular I agree with Jemima over Iris for the reasons given by others.
We know a Jemima and her nn is Mima if that's preferable to Jem/Jemima. Or Mimi?

rachrach2 · 03/02/2018 19:45

Charlotte is beautiful, classic and timeless. I like Iris but it will date again, currently fashionable. Dislike Jemima.

Fakingit36 · 03/02/2018 19:50

We’re in the US. My husband vetoed Jemima because of Aunt Jemima yep. The brand itself is kind of “tainted” by the slAve picture although I think they changed it. Great, great name and i’d use if not in USA.

DwangelaForever · 03/02/2018 20:12

Charlotte (but I'm a little bit biased Grin my dd is called Charlotte)

BlackberryandNettle · 03/02/2018 20:25

Jemima. The others are gorgeous but Charlotte is fairly popular. Love iris but think it is on the rise.

pilates · 03/02/2018 20:32

Jemima💕

Dionysus78 · 03/02/2018 20:36

I've got a Jemima of my own. No one has ever tried to call her Jem, it's Mima for short.

Dexterslab · 03/02/2018 20:53

Currently cuddling my 14 week old Iris! I've ha so many compliments on the name, slightly worries by the number of people saying it's getting popular!

crispinquent · 03/02/2018 21:22

Iris

DublinBlowin · 03/02/2018 21:25

I have an iris so I'm biased.

I hear it's getting more popular but DD is 7 and I've not met another one. I always get really favourable comments on her name.
