I want an unbiased opinion on these 2 names:
Bobby Phillip or Albert Michael for a boy
And for a girl:
Lydia Helen or Nelly (not decided on a middle name yet)
Last name is very common last name if that helps!!!

Albert Michael and Nelly are great names!

FirstMumToBe · 18/01/2018 14:27

@MaMisled they are my favourite!! However my OH think they are dated. I am struggling to think of middle name for Nelly though!

Albert and Nelly are great. I wouldn’t put Nelly on the BC though. Helen, shortened to Nell / Nelly would be lovely.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 18/01/2018 14:35

Helen Lydia with Nelly for short?

Randomlywondering · 18/01/2018 14:37

Yes, Nelly is a recognised nickname for Helen. I think I'd go for Helen Lydia and call her Nelly but she has the more grown up Helen to fall back on

FirstMumToBe · 18/01/2018 14:43

I know it's a nickname for Helen but I just love that name on it's own!! I think once she/he is here and I know what they look like, I'll be able to make my mind up wishful thinking
I also love Theo Michael, however my OH absolutely HATES it!! Hmm

If you don’t want Helen on BC, you could have Penelope shortened to Nell / Nelly maybe.

I think Nell on its own is fairly well used as well. Nelly... I think it’s lovely, but maybe a bit niche, if that’s the right word. That’s why I probably wouldn’t put it on the BC myself.

CuppaTeaTime2 · 18/01/2018 14:53

I prefer Albert to Bobby as Albert can be shortened to Bert, Bertie or Albie if you wanted to. Also, Albert is a traditional, full name as opposed to Bobby that should be IMO Robert on the birth certificate.

For the same reason, I would go with Lydia rather than Nelly, as Nelly doesn't seem like a full name. There's the Nelly the elephant connotation as well.

thepressureofaname · 18/01/2018 14:55

I had a relative called Jane Ellen, who went by Nelly.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/01/2018 19:18

Or you could have Noelle (Nelly).
Love Theo Michael, but will go with Bobby Philip.

BabloHoney · 18/01/2018 20:22

Nelly could also be short for Eleanor. It’s lovely, so is Lydia

pilates · 18/01/2018 22:16

Albert Michael and Lydia Helen

FirstMumToBe · 19/01/2018 11:51

@BabloHoney I have always loved Eleanor but my step sister is called that, I come from a massive family so alot of names we already have one of.
I love Nelly because it is a bit different and it's a nickname for Helen which would be after a relative!! It's just hard to think of a middle name - I am struggling Blush

Nelly is cool... I think you'd have to have a vintage sounding middle name that is also a bit different to go with it. I always think having 'May', 'Rose' or 'Grace' as a middle name kind of ruins the full name as they're so common and everyone seems to use them! Without knowing your surname ir is difficult to know what would go well but what about - Pearl, Iris, Mabel, Alma, Ophelia?
