Opinion on Arthur. We like it because it’s traditional and has welsh origin but just not sure it’s ‘the one’
Suggestions welcome :)

I think it's nice. But if it isn't completely feeling right it's best to keep looking.

ObiJuanKenobi · 14/01/2018 21:14

I love it. It was on my short list but didn't go with our other twins name! If I had a singleton it would have been my number one!

DullAndOld · 14/01/2018 21:15

I love it, wish I called my son this now.
It's international and classic.
Just one thing - if you live in London - it would become 'Arfa'

ImAMarshmellow · 14/01/2018 21:16

I really like this. It was one of the MANY names vetoed by dp Angry

Meepmoop · 14/01/2018 21:17

It's a great name!

MangoAppleMango · 14/01/2018 21:18

Not London but BIL does struggle with TH🤔 that could be an annoyance for sure.

Love it!

AdaColeman · 14/01/2018 21:19

Fab name!

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 14/01/2018 21:20

I love it and the Welsh meaning - bear like

Figrollsnotfatrolls · 14/01/2018 21:22

As long as your surname isn't Daley....

Topseyt · 14/01/2018 21:24

I like it.

sourpatchkid · 14/01/2018 21:25

I love it. It's getting very popular though in case you care about that

PemberleyP · 14/01/2018 21:30

I like it. Know a few but I can see why people like it. How about Artan for something similar but a bit more unusual?

BakedBeans47 · 14/01/2018 22:09

I hate it but that’s largely because it reminds me of someone horrible with the same name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/01/2018 22:22

I have a Luther.

glitterbiscuits · 14/01/2018 22:24

It’s fantastic, use it!

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 14/01/2018 22:24

I really like it. It’s on my list for dc2.

The only small issue I have with it, is that I think it’s one of the favourites for the royal baby, which puts me off slightly.

sonlypuppyfat · 14/01/2018 22:24

I went to school with an Arthur and he was teased every day, this was when every boy was called Gary. I know times change but I always think about him

Mrsknackered · 14/01/2018 22:24

I love it

donquixotedelamancha · 14/01/2018 22:28

Arthurus, rex quondam, rexque futurus

Fab name.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 15/01/2018 15:09

Great name.

Buntysoven · 15/01/2018 23:52

It's one of those names I irrationally dislike along with Sidney Stella and Esme but each to their own

DefinitelyMaybeBaby · 16/01/2018 10:06

It's had a massive leap in popularity recently and continuing to rise if that's something that bothers you. I also agree that the new royal baby due in April is likely to be Arthur if it's a boy. I really like it but we went against it for DS in the end because we are in the south of England and hardly anyone around where we live seems to pronounce THs properly and I didn't want to be the crazy mum correcting everyone when they saw "Arfur", I knew personally it would drive me mad!

saritah · 16/01/2018 11:20

Love Arthur and it's our middle name for a boy Smile

As TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag (couldn't agree more!) says, it could well be a royal baby name but there's a 50/50 chance of its royal babiness being a boy to start with, so if you really like it I wouldn't let it put you off. It's nowhere near the Oliver/Jack level of popularity and I think it's a lovely traditional name without being as faddy as some of the other old-fashioned baby names around, if that makes any sense! It's a proper man's name.

MangoAppleMango · 16/01/2018 11:47

Thank you for all the responses. I wasn’t aware that it was tipped as the top name for baby Royal, luckily I am due after so I will have a backup name prepared I guess🙈
