What do people think about:

Christine Elizabeth - for a girl

or

Edward Anthony - for a boy

There's lots of names I like - but these combos seem to be my current favourites!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If you can... wait a little longer. Too soon!

KalaLaka · 09/01/2018 12:33

Both beautiful names though Smile

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/01/2018 12:37

I don't like Christine. Same category as Denise, Pauline. It feels lumpy. And outdated., but not trendy old fashioned.

Others are nice.

Bibijayne · 09/01/2018 12:38

Thanks!

The girls names are my mum and MIL's names. I thought they sounded really pretty together - and they're not that common anymore.

Both dad and FIL are not fussed on their names so I went for my granddad's name and my DH's uncle's name as they seemed pretty classic and to go together :) (my uncle has the same name as my dad and also doesn't like it... apparently Keith was really popular in the late 1940s/ early 1950s!

I may change my mind after 12 week scan though!

Christine isn't nice (sorry). Elizabeth is lovely.

Edward Antony is nice, with scope for nicknames: Ed, Eddie, Ted, Teddy.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/01/2018 13:21

The girls names would be fine the other way round.

Elizabeth Christine. Christine is ok as a middle name as it's hardly used. Christina is much nicer.

Elizabeth has loads of nickname options too.. Eliza, Lizzie, Beth, Libby etc

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 09/01/2018 13:47

Agree with pps re Christine (sorry). I love Elizabeth though. I like Eliza, Betsy, Betty and Beth for short.

IVflytrap · 09/01/2018 13:52

I like Edward Anthony. I prefer Christina over Christine. There's also Christie, Kirsten, Kristen as related names to Christine.

handonhip · 09/01/2018 13:59

Going to go against the grain here and say I really like Christine, as well as Christina. Your other names are good, too.

ChocolateCrunch · 09/01/2018 14:03

I prefer Christina to Christine. Edward is OK, but fairly popular at the moment.

Bibijayne · 09/01/2018 14:44

Thanks for the info on Edward.... hmmm I love the name but I don't want DC #1 to have the same name as three or four kids in their class. DH is oldest of 7 (soon to be 9) kids - most of them boys, which makes picking boys names difficult! Thomas could work with Anthony as a second name potentially?

TBH the controversy over Christine in this thread is sort of cementing it as a well-known but not common name choice in my head.

Other girls names I like are: Hayley, Rebecca and Clare... but I don't think any go with Elizabeth really.

None of my business but reading your last post confused me...is your DH mother pregnant?!

I also prefer Elizabeth Christine as I just can’t imagine Christine on a baby. Really like your boy choice though, I also like the nn potential of Elizabeth and Edward x

Bibijayne · 09/01/2018 15:18

@motherofbabydragons - yes... DH's 50-y-o step mother is expecting twins in late June.

Ha - yes Edward and Elizabeth sound great together :)

OP posts:
Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 15:54

Oh wow...twins too! Good luck to her, she has lots of babysitters ready and waiting too I bet!😊

Bibijayne · 09/01/2018 16:04

Yup :)

My mums name is Christine Elizabeth :)
I like it but I know I’m in a minority. There is a slight difference in pronunciation - our family says CHRIS-teen (mum is known as Chris as well as Christine), but my DH calls her chris-TEEN. I think the chris nickname (which you may not like esp on a young child) flows more naturally from the first pronunciation.
Probably Elizabeth Christine is the better bet. But I’d love to see more little Christine’s around :)

Bibijayne · 09/01/2018 16:45

Hi @Moggle My mum is a Chris and we pronounce it the same in our family! :)

Figrollsnotfatrolls · 09/01/2018 16:46

I knew a little Christie - not as dated as Christine!!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 09/01/2018 17:32

I love Elizabeth. What about having that as a first name and Christine as a second name? I find Christine very dated.

Edward is nice.

cherryontopp · 09/01/2018 19:00

Your 2 minutes pregnant, I would hold on with all the names etc. Have your 12 week scan and go from there

Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 19:03

Bit patronising Cherry

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 09/01/2018 19:05

I’ve had numerous baby name threads on here when I wasn’t even ttc, just daydreaming about babies! Who cares? Thinking about baby names was just about the only fun thing I got to do in my first trimesters. Other than that it’s all morning sickness and anxiety!

Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 19:06

Well said DailyMail!

cherryontopp · 09/01/2018 19:08

mother maybe so but asking for baby names at 5 weeks? Its only to protect herself if anything happens.

Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 19:28

I’m sure the OP is more than aware of risks etc Cherry (googling every worse case scenario is a pregnant woman’s biggest mistake right?) but as DailyMail said it’s a nice way to take your mind of all the fears, I’m sure she doesn’t need randoms on the internet reminding her of all the worries of first trimester :)
