Brody or Brodie?
It's the only one we have any agreement on...but what does it make you think of? Really don't want a name that will date or be 'of its time'. Thanks.

The man who defeated Bruce the shark in Jaws.

He was cool. Brave, smart, looked after his children.

Good name.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 04/01/2018 22:55

Brody from Homeland

Elllicam · 04/01/2018 22:55

I like Brody, sounds surfer-ish.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 04/01/2018 22:56

I'm not particularly keen

To my ears it sounds quite American and a bit faddish

I'm not a fan of surnames as first names either

AfterSchoolWorry · 04/01/2018 22:56

Brody Jenner.

Misspilly88 · 04/01/2018 22:57

Love it. Prefer Brodie but either is good.

Tessermee · 04/01/2018 22:58

Makes me think of an Australian surfer dude type.
There was a girl called Brody on Home and Away I think.

flutteronbynow · 04/01/2018 23:01

Yes, Queen of Wands!! It's Chief Brody from Jaws - that's where (after MONTHS) of disagreeing on names we both had a eureka moment of agreement!

Realy like Brodie !
Sounds like the protagonist in a kids book to me but still think it would be good for an adult

Not quite so keen on Brody spelling though but not sure why

SuperBeagle · 04/01/2018 23:01

Brody.

But I don't like it. It's very Californian surfer sounding. He'd have a brother named Jackson.

flutteronbynow · 04/01/2018 23:04

It's Gaelic in origin...although I agree, it does have an American or Aussie surfer dude vibe...

I like it but I've only met a girl called Brodie, so to me it's a girl's name.

eastlondoner · 04/01/2018 23:08

I think American

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2018 01:17

To me it's mainly an Irish surname. I'm not mad on surnames as first names in general, but I don't mind Brody. It does have a bit of a surfer dude vibe to it as well, which I quite like.

IHeartKingThistle · 05/01/2018 01:30

Brodie. It's a gorgeous name. Only met one and he was a fab little boy.

starzig · 05/01/2018 01:34

Brody for a boy. Brodie for a girl

HuskyMcClusky · 05/01/2018 04:19

Not a fan. The Brody I know has a brother called Kai.

InionEile · 05/01/2018 05:09

Hilarious people are thinking California surfer dude for Brodie - it’s a Scottish surname, an old Highland clan! As in Muriel Spark’s ‘The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie’

What FrancisCrawford said. Sorry.

horatioisabrick · 05/01/2018 07:57

Man with several wives (polygamist, not divorced). That’s just what this name made me think of. But I don’t know why...? Probably some weird association / something I once read...? Confused

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/01/2018 11:38

Brodie.

Mulch · 05/01/2018 11:41

I think one of caitlyn jenners boys is called brody and I hate myself for knowing that. I like surnames as first names but doesn't tend to go down well on mn

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 05/01/2018 20:49

I like Brodie. I think of it as Scottish rather than American.

GlubGlubGlub · 05/01/2018 20:52

Brodie is the name of a castle in north east Scotland. Not American in the slightest. I like it but it is traditionally a surname.
