What do you think about these and other "dora" names?

They're not my style at all but then I don't like anything too fancy and these are super fancy.

strangerhoes · 04/01/2018 10:56
Hmm
OuchLegoHurts · 04/01/2018 10:56

A bit over the top for my tastes

frogsoup · 04/01/2018 10:57

First 2 ok, second two definitely in twee over-flowery territory.

horatioisabrick · 04/01/2018 10:58

I saw Menodora / Minodora on a babyname website and thought that I was actually rather lovely... Blush I'm just curious / wondering whether they're a bit too "unusual" (or creative...)?
I also like Dora.

They all sound very Harry Potter’esque to me. And ‘Dora’ will always be ‘Dora the Explorer’ to me.

dontpokethebear · 04/01/2018 11:01

I sense a theme here...

Heatherbell1978 · 04/01/2018 11:01

I think they're awful, sorry! I like pretty girls names but these are a bit try hard.

horatioisabrick · 04/01/2018 11:03

Raving

that's unfortunately the problem with "just" Dora..

dont

Well, yes. I really like Dora as a nn :)

Theodora is lovely.

Eolian · 04/01/2018 12:34

The first two are ok. The others are awful. They sound more like scientific terminology. And the 'menodora' version sounds like some kind of menstrual disorder!

DullAndOld · 04/01/2018 12:35

the first two are OK the others sound like STDs

Santasbigredbobblehat · 04/01/2018 12:37

Isadora is nice. Or I like Theodora.

nobutreally · 04/01/2018 12:40

Love Dorothea, and Isadora is OK (but soooo many Issys around at the mo - others not so much: they sound like made up versions of other names imo (Callista, Mina cf Dracula - which I think is short for the truly awful Wihelmina!)

Theworldisfullofidiots · 04/01/2018 12:43

Couldn't do Isadora personally given that Isadora Duncan was decapitated.

Like Dorothea.

dreamingofprairies · 04/01/2018 12:43

Sorry, not a big fan of any of these. But I like Theodora, as PP said.

horatioisabrick · 04/01/2018 12:47

Santa

True, Theodora is lovely :)

And the 'menodora' version sounds like some kind of menstrual disorder!

I really like Menodora / Minodora but it seems like it might be a bit too "weird".

DH likes Theodora (and thinks that Minodora could work as a middle name. But obviously not combined with Theodora).

Are there any dora names we didn't think of? There's obviously also Fedora (no!) and Eudora (which I'm not too keen on either, tbh)...

I like Isadora and Theodora. Dorothea just reminds me of an old lady - wasn't she one of the golden girls? The other two are a bit more "out there", Callidora is just about ok but she will spend her life having to spell it out to people. And plain Dora is definitely Dora the Explorer!
How about Elladora? Or Aurora, sounds similar?

Tessermee · 04/01/2018 12:56

Or Amadora (Italian)

TeaAndToast85 · 04/01/2018 12:57

Very...flouncy. Not my thing.

TeaAndToast85 · 04/01/2018 12:57

I like Dora though Smile

AccrualIntentions · 04/01/2018 12:57

The last two are a bit much for me. Isadora is pretty though, and there's scope for various nicknames should Dora not go down well.

RosaBaby2 · 04/01/2018 12:58

I love the name Dora, even just on it's own. Would have used for a girl 100% Smile

horatioisabrick · 04/01/2018 13:03

Tessermee

Is Amadora a feminine version of Amator? I'll have to google that, thanks :)!

Rosa

I like Dora as well :) But I rather like longer names / would like to give DC options.
