E-lie-jah

Brokenbiscuit · 23/12/2017 00:09

E-lie-jah

DramaAlpaca · 23/12/2017 00:09

I'd pronounce it ee-LIE-jah, with the stress on the middle syllable.

I've never heard it pronounced any other way.

MoreCheerfulMonica · 23/12/2017 00:11

In the Abrahamic religions, Elijah and Elisha are two different people and so these are two different names, each with its own pronunciation.

Onceuponatimethen · 23/12/2017 00:12

Elle - I - djuh with emphasis on the I

NannyR · 23/12/2017 00:24

I'd pronounce it e - LIE - jah, but with more of a soft j rather than a hard j.

GlitteryFluff · 23/12/2017 20:05

Do you mean hard / soft j?
I pronounce with a soft j.

SparklyUnicornTractors · 23/12/2017 20:08

El eye jah. Gorgeous name.

MollyHuaCha · 23/12/2017 20:52

Ee-LYE-Jah

FartnissEverbeans · 23/12/2017 20:57

With a j sound

I love Elisha as well, it's a beautiful name, but it'll be mistaken for a girls' name and nobody wants to be mistaken for a girl! How awful. Xmas Hmm

Buxbaum · 24/12/2017 09:02

Neither. The emphasis is on the middle syllable with the same ‘j’ sound as in ‘jam’.
