Do you think you look/act like your name?

just read this question on reddit and this was one of the responses to it

I often get told I look like a Jenny. Not too sure why. Nobody ever guesses my name right though so clearly I don't look like a Clare. I like to introduce myself as Jenny to guys I have zero interest in but will politely converse with.

so wondering if anyone else has any like experiences to this?

People are being really quite rude to you OP.
Nobody looks like a Jenny unless they are an ass.

I always used to be called Natalie!

rackhampearl · 12/12/2017 23:02

No I’m a Danielle but I look like a man so should be Daniel really

I get calledRachel a lot which is odd because a) its not my name b) I look npthong like any Rachel I know

My exes mum always called me Lauren. She'd always say 'but you're such a Lauren' I always found it a bit offensive, as all the Lauren's I knew were brats! I think I look like a Rhiannon, I was very nearly called it but my dyslexic grandma really struggled with the spelling!
I like my name though. It's quite popular in babies now, but I didn't know any growing up. It's very Irish but without being really complicated. I do get quite a few people saying 'is it a boys name?', which it bloody isn't! I think it suits me.

My name's Polly and I'm always told it suits me. People say it's quirky and fun, so not such a bad thing I guess.
A good friend of mines middle name is Oliver and ever since he told me I really wish it was his first name, it suits him so much more!

I think that people treat me differently if I say my name is something else.

I had a professor who insisted I should be called Molly. Coincidentally, my grandparents always call me Molly by accident, as it is my cousin's name and we have similar features. The professor had not met my cousin or my grandparents.

I have been told quite often “you’re really different to the other X’s I’ve met, you’re not at all chavvy” Hmm

I've got a name that can easily be shortened i.e Stephanie /Steph and find that people react differently depending on how I introduce myself.

Stephanie is seen as more serious I think.

I get called my dd’s name a lot. She’s only 3, so it’s not like we could be mistaken for one another!

I used to get Rachel and Catherine a lot too. One of those has the same first letter as my name, but is otherwise quite different.

I’ve come to conclusion now that I’m not all that memorable and neither is my name!
