SammyL100 · 09/12/2017 09:25

My sisters surname is Lee. She is expecting a daughter in April but struggling with names as lots she likes don't go with Lee eg

Willow Lee - Willowy
Constance Lee - Constantly
Lily /Emily Lee - repeat of lee sound
Olivia/Amelia - already have "li" in them

Does anyone have any suggestions?

*Frances.

Helena v Juliet on another thread made me think that a longer name might make the Lee less dominant.
Think about possible nn/abbreviation. Matilda Lee might be fine but Tilly Lee not.

MyOtherNameIsAFordFiesta · 09/12/2017 15:20

Um, I think "Anna Lee" risks being a bit close to "anally"...

It needs to be a name with an end and probably 3 syllables like Caroline or Elizabeth.

KhalliWali · 10/12/2017 01:24

There are loads of Asians where I live, so loads of 'Lee's. What kind of style does your DSis like: traditional, flowery, modern, vintage? I will then have a think through all the millions of Lee's I know and come up with some suggestions Grin.

NoelNiki · 10/12/2017 08:32

Alexandra Lee is perfect. The names dont flow into each other.

I know an Isabella Lee. Try and say that fast.

SammyL100 · 10/12/2017 11:11

I think my sis wants something not too popular and easy to pronounce . She's pretty open to all names so long as they don't sound too odd wiyh Lee.

Francesca
Jessica

I guess I'm going towards names with a definite end to them so they don't flow into the last name

LoveInTokyo · 16/12/2017 23:26

To all the people suggesting Anna... really?!

Anna is a beautiful name but Anna Lee sounds quite, er, rude!

Pemba · 17/12/2017 14:04

If Anna was pronounced Ay-na you might have a point. As it is you are drastically over-thinking it. I am sure that there are many girls and women, particularly of Chinese origin, named Anna Lee, and it's a nice name.

Some people need to get their minds out of the gutter!

Aquitania · 17/12/2017 14:09

Harriet Lee

Sophie Lee

Bethany Lee

Francesca Lee

LoveInTokyo · 17/12/2017 14:49

I know someone called Anna Lee and I have also heard grown adults (in a work context) sniggering about it and saying "that's a bit unfortunate, isn't it?"

And that was her married name.

Why would you even want to take the risk of lumping your child with a name like that?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/12/2017 16:24

Yy to Harriet.

Have never known a Francesca shortened to Fanny in this day and age. Franny or Frankie maybe.

Susannah Lee sounds lovely.
