Surprised by choice of Deborah

One of the mums at the school has just had a baby girl and called her Deborah! Her nickname is Bee as that's apparently its meaning. Are 70s names due a revival??

Her son is called A m o s (separated so not googlable!), which seems more cool and on trend.
WDYT?

To quote the late Marc Bolan. 'oh Deborah, you look like a zebra'

I love it, sounds class and fresh in a class of Ava and Lily and Freya’s

wooster16 · 01/12/2017 21:44

Classy*

And the pulp connection only makes it better

Also love it ! And like Amos too.

Mrsknackered · 02/12/2017 10:27

Sorry going against the grain, I think it's awful!

I really like Amos and Bee though.

Littlelambpeep · 02/12/2017 10:29

When I had my son there was a baby Stephanie and Jason on the ward. I thought both were dated but what the heck. Beautiful babies.

fleshmarketclose · 02/12/2017 10:36

I don't like names beginning with D (mine does) so wouldn't choose Deborah myself but think Amos (which I really love) and Bee sound like a lovely sibling pair.
I know a Melanie, Jason and Ryan (siblings) which sounded dated to me initially but I can't imagine them with other names now.

I know a few (non-Jewish background) toddlers now with Old Testament names like Rebecca, Ruth, Naomi, Esther, Hannah, Abigail - definitely coming back, though Hannah's been common for a while.

Deborah Vivien Cavendish the late duchess of Devonshire.
I think it's a lovely name.
Also a pulp fan and will be humming that song all day now. Also Slaves "Where's your car Debbie?" just popped into my head.

deptfordgirl · 02/12/2017 15:10

I think it's beautiful and goes really well with the other OT name. Bee is a cute, more 'on trend' nn anyway.

RavenWings · 02/12/2017 15:13

Deborah is great. A bit more imaginative than the usual Lily, Molly, Milly, Ava, Evie, Ellie, Mia, Sophie hordes.

RiseToday · 02/12/2017 15:53

Yuck. Awful name.

Love Bea though. She should've just called her that!

Frazzled2207 · 02/12/2017 16:00

Feels quite retro these days and the pulp connection is a good one. I think.
Much prefer Deborah to Debra though- yuk (sorry if anyone else has that name!)
