Not popular at all

ChocolateCrunch · 21/11/2017 20:56

I only know one, aged 7.

Roxx1516 · 21/11/2017 21:02

I do like the name vinnie, I don't want a popular name but don't want an extremely un popular name. Would you say the name Vinnie/vinny is a lower class name or middle or upper ? Like i personally cannot imagine a posh family having a Vinnie, I always think posh families have popular traditional names if you know what I mean

I know about 5 baby Vincents or Vinnie. All hipster London babies.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 21/11/2017 21:05

I know a 55 year old Vinny, also known as Vince.

Was on our shortlist, (DH likes motorbikes) but discarded as being a bit mockney.

AhWoof · 21/11/2017 21:08

I know 3 dog Vinnies, one human Vince (aged 70ish)

I would put Vinnie, (on the bc, rather than short for Vincent), in the same bracket as Alfie, Archie, Rudy, Charlie etc. Trendy, ‘cheeky chappy’ Type names.

eurochick · 22/11/2017 08:16

I only know a dog Vinnie.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 22/11/2017 08:27

It's not super popular but it's on trend with that hipster ish rediscovery of old fashioned names.
In an older person Vinnie (rather than Vincent) would put me in mind of a working class bloke.
But it's not what working class parents are calling their boys now- so it's not likely to have that connotation when he grows up.
I actually like it a lot. I would give him Vincent on the birth certificate though so he can chose when he gets older.
I have a Jimmy (birth certificate- James) though, so obviously I like that asthetic!

CrossFreelancer · 22/11/2017 09:47

Not popular. But I know a Vinnie, short for Lavinia.

Gingernaut · 22/11/2017 09:49

Will Vinny/Vinnie have a cousin?

goodnightfeast · 22/11/2017 09:53

A girl in my DD's class is Vinnie (Lavinia).

yasmin05 · 22/11/2017 10:13

I don't think Vinnie is a popular name. I have yet to meet someone with that name. Maybe Vince, Vivie or Viviary.

DiegoMadonna · 22/11/2017 10:58

If you only want to know how common it is, OP, this is a useful website:

names.darkgreener.com/

Vinnie has been going up over the last 20 years but is still very uncommon. Vincent is also uncommon and I'd guess that only a few of those go by Vinnie.

Roxx1516 · 22/11/2017 12:06

hmm seems to me it's not that comman then, but it's also not unheard of, I want a name that's NOT in the top 50 most popular names, but I don't want a name that's totally un heard of. I think vinnie is a contender then in my book as that's what I want, I want a name that's in the middle of popular and unpopular

I know 3.
One is 78, and 2 four year olds.

2/3 are Vincent's.
