Which do you prefer?

Eric is a family name and DP really likes it.

I've always had a soft spot for Archie.

Surname: Black

We're not pregnant yet but hope to be soon!

Eric makes me think of the kid in Bananaman!
Prefer Archie but maybe too many around these days?

Thanks for all your replies.

Eric seems to be winning. DP and I have been working in schools for over five years (he is secondary and me in primary) and we've known a few Archies, but no Erics!
I like it because it's classic, it's also an old Scandinavian name, we would choose Eric Oscar, so he'd be Eric Oscar Black or we could spell it the original/traditional way: Erik Oskar Black.
Eric was my great grandfather's name too.
Eric Black/Erik Black sounds quite good too, I agree with those of you who have said that.
I do really like Archie but it's a little bit too popular these days and I don't like Archibald really.

My great grandfather was Eric Ebenezer! Apparently he was 6ft 4 or 6ft 5 which was unusual in those days. My dad is 6ft 4. And my uncles are all tall, my cousin is 6ft 7. I just thought that was quite interesting.
We've still got his diaries from World War One, they're very interesting. He sounded like a great character, but unfortunately died in 1937 when my nan was 6 or 7 years old.

When did Eric become trendy??? I missed that one. I'm sure if this question was asked a couple of years ago, posters would be appalled.
Presumably Herbert will be next?

Maybe op doesn’t want a trendy name ....
