Just wondering what people's thoughts are on Cassie or Cass for a little girl? I absolutely love it but my other half thinks that it's more a name for a puppy!

As everyone else says the comment you (and later she) will always get is "that's pretty, what's it short for?" It could be short for a few names, most obviously Cassandra or Jocasta or Cassidy...

BabloHoney · 12/10/2017 16:35

I agree on Cassidy, I really like it but would be worried about the Butch association... I'm just not 100% on Cassandra. Weirdly my OH suggested Jessica, with Cassie as a nickname, as Cassie can be made up of the letters in Jessica! But I wonder if we are over thinking it, haha x

Cassia is so much nicer.

NeverTwerkNaked · 12/10/2017 16:49

It’s lovely

grouchymamabear · 12/10/2017 16:49

I think it's a lovely name OP! And there's absolutely no requirement to have it be short for anything unless you want it to be. :)

NeverTwerkNaked · 12/10/2017 16:50

Also I have no idea what the butch thing is about, so not sure it can be that obvious?

InvisibleKittenAttack · 12/10/2017 16:51

Oh Jocasta to Cass/Cassie is a lovely idea!

strawberrypenguin · 12/10/2017 16:52

I like it

MongerTruffle · 12/10/2017 16:53

raisins

That's Kasia (short for Katarzyna).

Lovely and another vote for Cassidy Smile

I really like Cassie as a nn for Cassandra. I wouldn't use it as a standalone name because it doesn't sound like one to me.

I'm not overly bothered about diminutives as first names, my daughter's name is technically a diminutive of a Russian name.

SuperBeagle · 13/10/2017 05:25

I love Cassie.

I don't like Cassandra, Cassia or Cassidy though. If I had to choose, I would pick Cassandra as it's the most well-known of the three, but is still incredibly underused.

NinonDeLenclos · 13/10/2017 15:08

I think there are way too many Jessicas in the world. And she won't get called Cassie at school, she'll get called Jess or Jessie.

I like Cassandra or Cassia with Cassie for short.

Hate Cassidy.
