Paris, Prince of Troy - it can work for a boy, especially if they have classically named siblings.

I don't like it on a girl, sorry.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 09/10/2017 08:04

Makes me think of Paris Lees, who I can't stand, but most people might not make the same link.

RoboticSealpup · 09/10/2017 08:06

I think it's awful, sorry.

museumum · 09/10/2017 08:06

First thoughts “why would a girl be going to Paris” or “do you mean things to do in Paris for a girl? What age”

Oh I see, as a name. Ah. Ok I guess but really the city will always come to mind first.

Aderyn17 · 09/10/2017 08:07

I think it's pretty, but people will make judgements about you/your child, so I wouldn't do it for that reason.
There was a thread on here where a posters said she binned CVs with certain names, so I think it would put your little girl at a disadvantage from the get go.

ArcheryAnnie · 09/10/2017 08:12

Her name models will be Paris Hilton (enough said) or Paris Lees, a trans activist and commentator whose words of wisdom include that sexual harrassment in the street is totally empowering, sexy and validating for women. The only other Parises I know of (apart from historical Paris) are Paris Jackson, and Paris Green, another trans person who is currently in prison for kicking an old man to death.

I'd find another name.

Chaffinch4 · 09/10/2017 09:03

If it's the sound you like, what about Carys / Charis?

bridgetreilly · 09/10/2017 09:30

It was a boy's name long before it became a city name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/10/2017 09:35

Maybe for a middle name.

PandorasXbox · 09/10/2017 09:46

No way.

KeiraH · 09/10/2017 10:46

My husband is a Paris, so to me it’s definitely a boys name. I love it and it suits him but I wouldn’t use it for a girl due to Paris Hilton association

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 09/10/2017 11:18

I don't like it, sorry. I think it sounds a bit too aspirational to me maybe, as some people associate the city with luxury / chicness. I know it's not all about the smart / chic areas in Paris - I used to live there! But I think that's the assumption sometimes.

There's also Paris Hilton and the "one night in Paris" sex video .

Branleuse · 09/10/2017 11:20

I like it.

NinonDeLenclos · 09/10/2017 11:25

God no. Carys is nice though.

NikiBabe · 09/10/2017 15:09

I know a baby London.....

Paris isnt as bad.

moralberyll · 09/10/2017 17:38

My sister has just named her dd Paris, I'm not personally very keen on it myself and I would never call a child of my own Paris, it makes it worse that she was conceived there too although I didn't voice my opinion on the name as it is her baby. There are so many much nicer names out there. I prefer Milan or Florence.

heateallthebuns · 09/10/2017 17:46

I don't like it at all.

kaytee87 · 12/10/2017 08:52

I like Parisa, it's an Iranian name but probably only suitable if you have a connection to Iran (doesn't stop everyone using Leila though Grin)

FizzyGreenWater · 12/10/2017 17:46

Rouen is nicer
