Rosa or Rosanna?

Just that really...which do you prefer? Do you think Rosanna will get shortened to Rosie?

OP posts:

I prefer Rosanna, but they are both beautiful.

I think they both have the potential to become Rosie!

EssentialHummus · 07/10/2017 02:55

Ours has Rosa as a middle name. I prefer that to Rosanna. I think for me Rosanna has connotations of the American TV show Roseanne (sp?).

BriechonCheese · 07/10/2017 02:57

I would imagine Rosanna would get shortened to Rosa or Anna before Rosie.

Pemba · 07/10/2017 07:30

I prefer Rosa, but I do like Rosanna too. Both more interesting than just Rose, or Rosie.

tocas · 07/10/2017 07:35

I like both but I think I prefer Rosanna

kaytee87 · 07/10/2017 08:05

Rosa is much nicer imo

pilates · 07/10/2017 08:10

Rosa

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 07/10/2017 08:17

Rosa is so pretty...one of my favourites.

I know several, ages 3ish, 5 and late teens. "Rosie" doesn't seem to have become a semi-NN for any of them...so it's not necessarily inevitable!

Rosanna in its full form is nice. Yes, "Rosie" "Anna" (even "Zanna"/ "Ro", I suppose?) are potential shortenings, but none of them a given.

Once met a (Portuguese) baby Rosalia [parents pronounced it Roh-ZAH-lee-uh, rather than Roh-zuh-LEE-uh]. Quite liked the sound of that.

meanapparently · 07/10/2017 08:20

My sister is Rosanna. She's only ever been Rosy.

Horispondle · 07/10/2017 08:49

I know two Rosanna's. One gets Rose, Rosie and Aunty Zanna depending on who it is. The other was only ever Rosie as a baby but when the sibling came along it was Zaza and it stuck.

Smoliver · 07/10/2017 09:04

I think Rosanna is a bit less popular these days, so if you're looking something more unique, I'd go with that.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/10/2017 09:45

Rosanna is beautiful.

ChocolateCrunch · 07/10/2017 11:07

Rosanna, beautiful name

bridgetreilly · 07/10/2017 11:35

Rosanna. Which can always be shortened to Rosa if you like.

PandorasXbox · 07/10/2017 11:43

I prefer just Rose tbh.

Annabelle4 · 07/10/2017 11:49

Rosa.

I prefer simple, less fussy names.

rosareine · 07/10/2017 12:02

Rosa

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/10/2017 12:12

Rosa. I'm really not a fan of Rosanna.
Yet I love the name Rose and Anna and they go beautifully together, but I just don't like it, strange.
Or have you thought of switching it a round. Annarose would be gorgeous

Sophronia · 07/10/2017 13:47

I like both, but prefer Rosanna

early30smum · 07/10/2017 14:53

Like both. Either could be called Rosie TBH but I think it's more likely with Rosanna. I think I prefer Rosanna overall and I like the NN Rosie.

MikeUniformMike · 07/10/2017 14:57

I like both and prefer Rosanna, but it is more likely to get shortened to Ros unless you insist on Rose/Rosie as a shortened version.

MikeUniformMike · 07/10/2017 14:57

Roseanne sounds very dated.

BellMcEnd · 07/10/2017 14:59

Rosa. Rosanna seems overly fussy to me. Rosa is beautiful

Liadain · 07/10/2017 17:22

Rosanna by a mile. Also Rosalie?

holdthewine · 07/10/2017 21:21

I know 2 Rosannas. One gets Rosie and one is always Rosanna. I think anything beginning Ros can be shortened to Rosie but it depends if the name bearer wants it.
Both are beautiful names.
