Which of these?

I've NC'd for this just in case because I've talked to family about the names I like!

I'm due DC2 in Jan. We've picked out a boys name already (in fact we can only agree on 1!)

For a girl I'm currently swaying between Abigail and Cora.

DD is Leah.

Which do you prefer?

I prefer Abigail but I think Cora goes better with Leah

early30smum · 30/09/2017 22:24

I like both, would you use the nn Abbie/Abby?

NameChoices · 30/09/2017 22:24

Thanks.

See I was actually worried that Cora didn't go with Leah so well. Like having two names ending in an -ah sound was a bit clumsy 🤔

Cora by miles

NameChoices · 30/09/2017 22:25

I think Abby/Abbie/Abi would probably be inevitable as she gets older and I'm ok with that but I don't think I'd use it straight away.

I do quite like the fact that Cora. Ant really be shortened, like Leah.

*can't be shortened obviously!

Just to throw a spanner in the works, we'd talked about using the middle name Catherine after several family members. I think Abigail Catherine is fine but not so sure about Cora Catherine Confused

I like Cora (and really like Leah too), but I do think Leah and Cora might be a bit much together.

Cora Catherine is also a real mouthful.

I think Leah and Abbie sounds nice together. Abigail Catherine is much better than Cora Catherine.

But....you don't use the full name that often so Cora Catherine wouldn't matter too much and Leah and Cora isn't that bad together...so go with whichever name you prefer!

MrTurtleLikesKisses · 30/09/2017 23:39

LOVE the name Cora Grin

Sophronia · 01/10/2017 00:09

I actually think Abigail goes better with Leah as they’re both Biblical.

ChocolateCrunch · 01/10/2017 07:24

I like Cora and think it goes well with Leah. OK, Cora Catherine is a bit of a mouthful, but it's not going to be said together that often, so I wouldn't worry too much.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/10/2017 07:26

I prefer Cora (although like Dora better😀)

The first names us more important then second, so if you settle on Cora then change Catherine. I don't like Cora Catherine, sounds a bit comical.

Pemba · 01/10/2017 08:05

Abigail is nice. Cora is meh, a bit dreary and I honestly don't get why it's becoming popular. And like a pp said, Leah and Abigail are both biblical names, so go well together.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/10/2017 10:26

❤️ Abigail.

CakeRattleandRoll · 01/10/2017 15:03

Love them both, but agree that Abigail goes better with Leah.

StylishDuck · 01/10/2017 19:44

I think I'm slightly swaying towards Abigail now. Just because I really want to use Catherine as a middle name.

Any other suggestions for names? I also like:

Eilidh
Iona
Martha

but DH has vetoed them.

StylishDuck · 01/10/2017 19:57

And I just realised I forgot to NC back there Blush Ah well!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/10/2017 19:57

Abigail Catherine is lovely !

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 01/10/2017 20:01

I prefer Cora. If you're set on Catherine as one of the names, could you call her Catherine Cora, but known by her middle name? Cora Catherine doesn't flow well, but I think Catherine Cora sounds nice.

Mulch · 01/10/2017 20:21

I like coral

LostwithSawyer · 01/10/2017 23:02

Don't like abi. Love cora. Nobody uses middle names so I wouldn't be too worried.

lindblum · 01/10/2017 23:39

Abigail is very... current? I know so many 3/4 year old Abbies. I don't like it very much.

Cora is more unusual and I think works with Leah.

Cora Catherine is lovely.

I adore Eilidh and all its variations and it goes really well with Catherine. Iona, too.

What about Eithne, if you're looking for something in the above vein? Pronounced like Enya.

StylishDuck · 02/10/2017 11:38

I've never heard of Eithne. That's lovely. I'd only be concerned that no-one would know how to pronounce it and she'd be called eeth-nay or something. We're in Scotland so Eilidh is pretty well known here. I love it too but DH doesn't like it for some reason Sad
