My brother, who lives in London, says all the boys round him are called Finlay, Stanley and Toby (he's tuned into them, having a boy himself) Don't know about girls I'm afraid.

headintheproverbial · 27/09/2017 20:06

Sophie, Isabella (and variants thereof)

Benjamin, Oscar, William

Mrsknackered · 27/09/2017 20:19

The ones I know aren't as common but I know:

Aniyah/Anaiah/Anaia all born in the last year.
I know 2 Inez/Ines
2 Teddy's

Lots of Isobel's, Florence's and Henry's.

WhatKatyDidnt · 27/09/2017 21:46

MrsMeeseeks · 28/09/2017 07:30

Every little white boy in London is called Oscar, Ethan or Harry.

All the girls are called Amelie.

SquirmOfEels · 28/09/2017 07:47

Up to what age counts as a baby?

Names I've heard recently are Khadija, Emmy, Matthew and Kwame

PovertyJetset · 28/09/2017 07:56

Oscar
Isabella
Thalia
Litlith
Arlo
Jude
Clemmence
Rain
Sebastian

Getabloominmoveon · 28/09/2017 08:54

Muhammad is the top boy's name in London

Acidophilus · 28/09/2017 09:34

It's true that we are all probablyndocusing on our small local communities and not a pan-London perspective. They are areas where names from other countries will absolutely dominate.

I should add Arlo to the list. It's an abomination of a name but it's everywhere.

Funnily I have never met a baby Ethan or Harry in London @Mrsmeeseeks. I wonder whether there are big variations just within little neighbourhoods of London.

harrietm87 · 28/09/2017 22:52

Arlo, Ronnie, Reggie, Ted, Kit

Olivia, Amelia, Romilly, Isla, Evie

soundsystem · 28/09/2017 22:58

Noah, Leo, Charlie and Theo for boys, and Matilda, Evie and Connie for girls where I am.

fittedwardrobe · 28/09/2017 23:28

Boys are
Ethan, Elliot, Sonny, Arlo and anything that can have a nickname "Bertie". The trend for Fox as middle name has kind of passed but I still hear of one or two. Met a few Sebastians recently. Oscar, Max. I know a hell of a lot of Frankies aged 2 and under. There are three Titus' round here but I think that's an anomaly.

Girls
Ottilie, Amelie, Emmeline, Isabella (and variants), Iris, Astrid, Eliza, Margot, Poppy.

WhatsThisNow · 28/09/2017 23:55

It's officially Oscar.

For girls there's much more variety. I couldn't say one stands out.

But Oscar...oh boy.

ourkidmolly · 28/09/2017 23:59

Finns and Elodies. Oliver and Evie are around too. A few Jemimas here.

BlueButTrue · 28/09/2017 23:59

It depends where in London you're talking, doesn't it?

Where my Nan lives, all the boys seem to be called Abdul or Muhammad.

In Chelsea it's a lot of baby Sophie and Elizabeth

In my old area, it's all ridiculous "Hallie-Mai" etc etc

Loveisthelaw · 29/09/2017 10:51

I know an Oscar, Finlay, Teddy, Stanley, Alfie, Thierry, Suveer, James, Beau, Robert, Toby, Joseph, Patrick.

For girls Amelia, Olivia, Ellie, Georgia, Molly, Martha, Edie, Evelyn, Summer, Maya, Gracie.

Loveisthelaw · 29/09/2017 10:53

Actually most of my London friends have picked boys names like James, Mark, Matthew, Robert, George.
They are fine but a little too traditional (boring) for my taste.

Ons has statistics on this, its Mohammed and Amelia in London.

nodogsinthebedroom · 30/09/2017 08:13

I don't meet a huge number of babies, but recently there's been Oliver, Laurence, Patrick, Anna and Simone.
