What are your thoughts on Sibyl / Sybil for a girl. Unsure which spelling I prefer but only Sybil features on the ONS

Not for me. I find it ugly and very dated.

Oooo I nooooo 😂

I really like Sybil and prefer to spelt this way I think. It does make me think of Fawlty Towers but that's already an ancient reference! Our DD is Margot which made me and everyone else think of The Good Life at the time - didn't stop me and have had no regrets.

I like it - unusual now and classic.

In the same category as Sylvia.

My DD is Sybil so obviously i love it. Named after my nana. Haven't had any fawlty towers jokes, a couple of people have mentioned cybill shepherd.

I like Sibel (as in Dumlu who played Shay in Game of Thrones) and Sybelle from some novel I read.

CaptainCabinets · 02/10/2017 13:20

I have a friend named Sybille, do you like that?

MollyHuaCha · 02/10/2017 14:04

Sybil is lovely.
