Both nice but prefer Finn Alexander as long as your surname doesn't begin with a T!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/09/2017 22:30

Oliver Daniel, dislike Finn.

Winteriscomingneedmorewood · 22/09/2017 22:31

My ds is Fynn Oliver!

Dustbunny1900 · 22/09/2017 22:36

Finn Alexander!! Great name, really flows, Oliver is just a bit ubiquitous at the moment

PotteringAlong · 22/09/2017 22:39

Oliver Daniel for me.

euanthesheepiloveyou · 22/09/2017 22:39

Definitely Finn Alexander. Finn is no. 100 & Oliver is no. 1 in terms of popularity, if that makes a difference?

LastOneDancing · 22/09/2017 22:45

I love both Finn & Alexander so a clear winner for me.

Sophronia · 23/09/2017 08:09

Finn

bigchris · 23/09/2017 08:10

I don't like contractions so it'd have to be Finley

Oliver is overused imo

ChocolateCrunch · 23/09/2017 09:33

Finn, as so many Olivers

TorNayDoh · 23/09/2017 09:37

Finn isn't a contraction. It's from Gaelic meaning "fair". Finley is a compound name derived from Finn and means "fair warrior".

Finn McCool is a famous Finn from Old Irish legend.

Winteriscomingneedmorewood · 23/09/2017 09:41

My son was a bald baby but his hair grew in fair as his name suggested!!

euanthesheepiloveyou · 23/09/2017 12:18

It's technically Fionn mac Cumhaill in Itish folklore.

euanthesheepiloveyou · 23/09/2017 12:18

*Irish

MeMeMeMe123 · 23/09/2017 12:19

Finn

Can be short for Fintan, Finnbarr and Finlay.....

FruitHuts · 23/09/2017 12:21

@MeMeMeMe123 or a perfectly fine name on its own Smile

MammieBear · 23/09/2017 12:23

Finn is lovely, popular though but not as popular as Oliver.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 23/09/2017 13:49

I prefer Oliver. I find Finn a bit harsh sounding. Both are fairly well used where I live so don't see popularity as a reason not to use either of them iyswim.

TatianaLarina · 23/09/2017 19:33

Finn by miles.

Fionn Mac Cumhail is cool.

Olly is a crap name.

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/09/2017 19:36

Finn Alexander

Though Finn Oliver would be nicer imo

Chocolatecake12 · 23/09/2017 20:59

Oliver Daniel is lovely!
I actually know more Finns than Olivers and I have 2 school Age boys.
And to pp - Olly isn't a crap name at all!

ourkidmolly · 23/09/2017 21:01

Both fantastic names. There are 4 Finns in my son's school which I find incredible.

MeMeMeMe123 · 23/09/2017 21:29

My nephew is Finn OP. Was just illustrating to a pp that it's not just short for Finley.
Gorgeous, gentle name.Smile

Janus · 23/09/2017 21:34

I have a Finn and I still love the name! I don't come across many (except a few Finley's). We are just Finn but we often call him Finnbar for some strange reason!

Finbarfinbo · 23/09/2017 21:43

We have a just Finn who we often call Finnbar too. No other Finns or Finlays etc in his school, always see on here how over used it is, but not near us. I do really like Oliver too, but Finn is an awesome name.
