I'd say you'd need a longer first name - Roseanna?

AmyGardner · 18/09/2017 15:58

Even Rosa? Rose May sounds very stilted.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 18/09/2017 15:58

I wonder whether, written down it looks like Rosemary with the R missing? It even sounds a bit like that when you listen to it. I love the name Rose (my dd1 has it) but I agree with op who thinks you need a longer name. Rosa, perhaps? I think you need at least 2 syllables ideally.

Paddington68 · 18/09/2017 16:05

Rosaline, Rosalind

Hushabyelullaby · 18/09/2017 16:06

I agree go for a longer name, and then actually call her Rose day to day.

Rosita
Rosalla
Rosanna
Roseanne
Rosalind
Rossana
Rosabel
Rosalea/Roselie/Roselee
Rosina
Rosita
Rosamund
Rosalind
Rosilynn/Roselyn/Rosalyn

Theresa Mary would be a good choice Grin

Astheflamesrosetoherromannose · 18/09/2017 16:35

My middle name is Rosetta, I think a longer name along those lines would suit May better.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/09/2017 18:17

I like it !

mummytwoh · 18/09/2017 21:24

How about Rosie?

MammieBear · 18/09/2017 21:52

Rose is fine with May in my opinion.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/09/2017 22:07

Rose May sounds very abrupt to me. It doesn't flow well at all.

pilates · 18/09/2017 22:34

A longer first name would sound better

MikeUniformMike · 18/09/2017 22:49

I think Theresa might be a good choice. Or Maggie.
Or Fay perhaps.

MikeUniformMike · 18/09/2017 22:51

May May is probably a bit OTT but I like Kay.

NearLifeExperience · 19/09/2017 00:29

Rose is a wonderful name (yes, I have one!) but sounds awkward with May.

Rosie ,Rosalie, Rosemary etc, may be better

NuffSaidSam · 19/09/2017 01:58

No.

Because:

It sounds too much like Rosemary.

Two one syllable names are too short together, they don't flow well. If you really want Rose you could double barrel your surname.

Rose and May are really, really popular as both middle names and the second part of a double barreled first name. It's like you've just taken the two token, throwaway names of the moment and used both of them.

BakedBeeeen · 19/09/2017 02:24

There are lots of names. Choose a different one that sounds better. Simples!

MrsA2015 · 19/09/2017 02:31

Roseanne May

TurquoiseChevrotain · 19/09/2017 02:36

@BakedBeeeen blimey, aren't you annoying.

PolkaDotty7 · 19/09/2017 02:37

It sounds perfect! I love it! What's the point of giving her a longer name... choose the name you love. She may change her surname if she decides to marry, so don't choose a first name based entirely on how it goes with your surname.

Sandy1985 · 19/09/2017 02:39

NuffSaid I'm not going to double barrel the surname as I want her to have the same surname as me

We won't be going for Rose and don't like any other rose name

Polka I know you were being nice Smile but I really hope she doesn't change her name just because she gets married

Rosa May is lovely but it's not to your taste. Lots of names would sound pretty and with a short surname you could use a longer first or middle name. Georgina May, Arabella May, Harriet May, Jacinta May.... I'd go for something not twee, if that helps.
